>>[background music] Hi, I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm going to give you a quick video tour of AKG's K 702 headphones. These new pro headphones bear a striking resemblance to the company's K 701 consumer headphones except the new model sports what AKG calls, features demanded by recording and broadcast engineers in a deluxe professional package. As you can see these headphones are rather large. The K 702's have an open back dynamic design featuring vera motion, ultra precision, 2 layer diaphragms and they're intended to be used at home plugged into an AV receiver. You can use them with an iPod but they're power hungry so you're not gonna get quite the same oomph as you'd get from a Bfe80 receiver. That said these are still one of the best sounding headphones we've ever heard with our iPod. Even after extended listening sessions of music and movies, these headphones were a pleasure to wear. The most remarkable thing about their sound is their out of head imaging. If you hate the canned sound of most headphones, the K702's will blow you away. Not only is the sound bigger but the stereo left to right positioning of voices and instruments will be more precisely focused between your ears. The imaging also extends forward and to the rear making them the most speaker like headphones we've ever heard. The clarity was extraordinarily good and never aggressive or thin. AKG's engineers have given the K702's perfect balance of resolution and smoothness. Sure at over $500 these guys are expensive. The sound is near state of the art, only better by much more expensive headphones like the soon to be released Sennheiser HD800's which go for $1400. The fact of the matter is the K702's creamy soft ear pads are so darn comfy it is easy to forget you're wearing headphones. [background music] I'm David Carnoy and those are the AKG K 702 headphones.

Skullcandy Double Agent headphones
The Skullcandy Double Agent headphones offer a unique and stylized all-in-one design, but they're not particularly comfortable, and sound quality is subpar. Unless your main goal is to do away with wires and stand out from the crowd, these are not the best option.
Ultrasone's HFI-2200 headphones score well on every count: they're comfortable, well built, and sound great.
2000 is (not) the year of NOFX! But don't listen to the hype; listen to the record. Pump Up The Valuum is more clever, more irreverent and more crude than NOFX has ever been: and hot on the heels of the unprecedented The Decline, an amazing 18 minute punk-a-thon, NOFX come slamming back with 14 instant classics (in about 32 minutes). Pump Up The Valuum combines some of NOFX's most outrageous (and curiously thought provoking) lyrics like in "Louise," "Herojuana" and "My Vagina" (a first-person account of becoming a transsexual), as well as some of their most poignant lyrics like in "Total Bummer." This, their eighth album for Epitaph contains some of the most barefaced drug references and sexual in-your-endos (innuendoes is the wrong word because that means that sexual acts are only "implied"). From day one, NOFX has been all about having a good time, regardless to whose expense it came. In the liner notes of 1996's Heavy Petting Zoo, NOFX blasted the music industry circle including major labels, print media, radio, and especially MTV. This time, NOFX bring their despise of major labels into the songwriting with "Dinosaurs Will Die." Lyrics like "Parasitic music industry" and "Music created from devotion / not ambition / not for fame / zero people are exploited / there are no tricks up our sleeves" refers to the death of the 5 remaining majors, and being glad they are independent.

ShareBuds MX Twin Stereo Earphones
If you're in the habit of frequently sharing your headphones with friends and family members, the Sharebuds are an intriguing concept, though they're a bit overpriced.
Woodees Inner Ear Sound Isolating Stereo Earphones
The Woodees earphones feature a unique wooden earpiece enclosure that creates a sound more akin to that of speakers than earbuds. If you like open, natural-sounding audio, be sure to give them a listen.
Logitech FreePulse Wireless Headphones
The Logitech FreePulse Wireless Headphones are remarkably light headphones. The sound quality is decent overall with an emphasis on bass. The Bluetooth transmitter can be used with any audio source that has a minijack headphone output.
Bose's entry-level Companion 2 Series II speakers offer good bass and dual inputs--but they're not the best-sounding PC speakers in their price class.
AKG K 702 Open Back Dynamic Reference Headphones Review
The good: The AKG K 702 headphones offer a super comfy, over-the-ear design; they sound great at home and with iPods, and come with a detachable headphone cable.
The bad: The AKG K 702 headphones don't come with a travel bag or storage case.
The bottom line: The AKG K 702 Open Back Dynamic Reference Headphones offer an ultracomfortable way to enjoy sound that is remarkably more open than most sets; they're like personal speakers for your head.
