British Sea Power: "No Lucifer"

Do You Like Rock Music? was made in Montreal, the Czech Republic and Fort Tregantle - a 19th Century fortification in Cornwall, on England?s south-west coast. It was recorded by a band unafraid to embrace the far poles of arts and entertainment. BSP have toured with and been praised by David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Lou Reed, Radiohead and Jarvis Cocker. But they?ve also been invited to play in celebration of the life and times of Sir John Betjeman, the late UK Poet Laureate, born in 1906. And they?ve played shows with The Copper Family, a clan of Sussex folk singers who?ve been going for two hundred years.

Youth Group: "Skeleton Jar"

One of Australia's most quietly adored bands, Youth Group, stand ready to roar with 'Skeleton Jar'. Youth Group are at the forefront of an exciting new era in Australian alternative music. Singer/guitarist/songwriter Toby Martin formed the group with drummer Danny Allen in Sydney, Australia and despite several line-up changes since, these two remain at the band's core. After quickly gaining a strong live following the band signed to local independent label Ivy League Records (the same people who manage The Vines and Jet) and released their debut album in May 2001. 'Skeleton Jar' is the band's second album and the first to be released in the US. The talents of singer/songwriter/guitarist Toby Martin shine through on this album like a beacon. Eccentric, yet highly emotive lyrics navigate their way across varied landscapes of pop, folk, and indie rock terrain with his uniquely pure voice. From the haunting singles 'Skeleton Jar' and 'Shadowland' to live favorites "See-Saw" and 'Piece Of Wood", Youth Group present an eclectic feast, with a darker and less poppy approach.

Maximo Park: "Apply Some Pressure"

Maximo Park have taken the world by storm and proven themselves as one of the last truly original acts to make it through the closing door of the new wave of young British rock acts. Their debut full-length "A Certain Trigger" launched a wave of frenzy in the UK that began with an endless string of sold-out shows and emphatic praise from rock bible NME. It's recently ascended even further with record sales landing the band a Gold Record for the album, appearances on the legendary Top Of The Pops television program and a headlining spot on this year's NME Awards Tour alongside upstarts Artic Monkeys, joining Maximo Park in good company with past NME Tour headliners Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs. In addition to their superstar status in the UK, Maximo Park have made a great impression on US shores with praise from MTV and Rolling Stone as well as Andy Warhol's Interview, and a tour with modern-rock darlings The Bravery. More a companion piece to "A Certain Trigger" than a full-fledged Maximo Park album, "Missing Songs" is meant to act as both a treat for hardcore fans and a welcome addition to the collection of new converts. The record is comprised of nine tracks that were featured as b-sides on the band's UK and European singles but only two of which ever appeared on a US release (the limited "Apply Some Pressure" single which you'll also find in this package) and never-before-heard demo versions of three of MP's most popular tracks. On the import-single, you'll find the original version of the new single, "Apply Some Pressure" while "Missing Songs" features an acoustic version of the same songs as well as live favorites such as "A19" and "I Want You To Leave" that have become staples even though they've been essentially unavailable in the US.

The Thrills: "Midnight Choir"

Capitol Music Group will release Teenager, the third album from acclaimed Irish rock band The Thrills, on October 23rd. The five-piece Dublin band had recorded its two previous albums – 2003’s So Much For The City and 2004’s Let’s Bottle Bohemia – in sunny Southern California, but this time round they opted for The Warehouse (which was a makeshift morgue in a previous incarnation and is rumored to be haunted) in Vancouver, BC’s seedy Gastown district.

Munk: "The Portofino Mosh"

MUNK are Italian Mathias Modica and German partner Jonas Imbery. They release their own records and also the music of friends like HEADMAN, WHOMADEWHO and TOMBOY on their own little label GOMMA - the label that has achieved a quite good fame for releasing this new sound which mixes the aesthetics of 70ies Disco and Krautrock with modern Electronics and House. In the past Gomma has released the debut albums of avant-garde pop artists like MOCKY, HEADMAN, New York sculpturist THE RAMMELLZEE and NICK MACCARTHY (of Franz Ferdinand) with his former band KAMERAKINO. In early February the new label compilation was released. GOMMAGANG 3. It includes recent tracks from the above mentioned artists and also new remixes and guest appearances of The Rapture, DJ Chloe, Midnight Mike, Dirt Crew. It was mixed by the MUNK guys and shows the sound of the Gomma label of the past two years and also the DJ style of MUNK. MUNK have released their critically acclaimed APERITIVO debut album in 2004. The single "Kick Out The Chairs!" still gets played in clubs around the world. The album is one of the first records that preceded the current "Garagedisco" and "Balearic" trend. Including guest vocalists such as their friend JAMES MURPHY of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM/DFA RECORDS, French DJ CHLOE, MIDNIGHT MIKE from London and BOBBY CONN ? the album still sounds fresher than many similar recordings of now. Since "Aperitivo", the guys have been mostly djing around the world. Their very own hot mix of Minimal house and Leftfield Disco gets appreciated more in more and so they are playing a lot of clubs around the world. From places like The Pulp in Paris, Culture Club in Belgium and Berlin clubs like WMF or FUN to fancy parties like the one of Colette shop in Paris and festivals like Sonar and Melt.

G.A.S. Drummers: "Miamized"

# We started back in 1998 from the ashes of other previous hardcore/punk bands in our hometown, Jerez in South Spain. We rehearsed a lot and recorded a couple of demos. We managed to support Randy in their spanish tour of ?99 and after that Slide Chorus made us an offer to release our first album ?Proud to be nothing?. # Once the album was released we toured non - stop, and we played in every place possible in Spain, including the Islands. In summer ?00 we toured europe for the first time with our friends PPM. then, back to spain we managed to play big shows with bands like No Fun at All or Undeclinable. # In early 2001, we toured Europe again in the well known ?Stronger than Metal tour?, which led us to meet great bands on the road as the Donots, Against time or 5 days off. Later that year, we toured Spain with Adhesive and right after we flied to the Uk to rock along 10 days with Twofold. Then we played at the Deconstruction Tour in Portugal. # In June ?01, New Horizon Records released ?Proud to be nothing? in north america. In summer ?01 the band their basement to create ?The True Charm of Bourgeoisie?. We signed to Wild Punk Records to release the album in Spain. In september ?01 we went to ?Pig Studios? in Granda, Spain (same as for ?Proud to be Nothing?) and we repeated with Javi PPM as the producer. # In march ?02 we toured Canada. We did 10 shows in the states of Quebec and Ontario with a successful result. Then, in october ?02 we did a 21 dates european tour along 9 different european countries to present the latest album. It was the best tour ever for us! # In 2003 we signed to BCore Disc, and we worked hard to finally record "Dialectics" in September '03. The album was produced by Paco Loco (Australian Blonde, Steve Wynn...) at Odds Studios in El Puerto, very near our hometown Jerez. # "Dialectics" is no doubt the finest workpiece we've ever done, a very own soundfield where we feel really confortable. As always our touring plans this time are definitively serious, so watch out there!

Kinky: "Sister Twisted"

Formed in their entirety in 2000 five piece Latino dance funk band KINKY have emerged from relative obscurity in the desert city of Monterrey, Mexico to a phenomenal worldwide success. With two triumphant albums under their belt and many more tours, soundtracks and award nominations (including not one, not two, but three Grammys) to date, the boys begin 2005 on a very high note indeed. The original KINKY line-up comprised of Gilberto Cerezo, Ulises Lozano and Carlos Chairez who experimented with alternative genres. Three became five when Omar Gongora and Cesar Pliego joined in early 2000 and everything clicked into place. With such diverse influences as traditional Samba beats to techno and rock 'n' roll, KINKY tapped their resources of rich talent and varied musical styles, to create their distinctive new sound. By mid 2000 they were gaining a reputation for their unique blend of Latin rock and when Chris Allison, British record producer of Coldplay and the Beta Band, heard them, he decided to sign them to the his Sonic360 group of labels. The deal lead to a licensing agreement for the U.S. and Canada through Nettwerk America and BMG Mexico for Latin America. The rest, as they say, is history. Aided by the production skills of Chris Allison, by 2002 KINKY had recorded and released a fine self-titled debut album, received by critical and public acclaim. Following the band?s effervescent SXSW appearance, critics from highly respected International press described KINKY?s music as ?feverishly danceable,? ?groovy electro-pop? and even going so far as to proclaim their unique blend as the ?future of music.? As an album, ?Kinky? combined the stylishness of discerning American and European dance grooves and straight-ahead rock ?n? roll, with traditional rhythms from throughout South America. Their fresh new sound and extensive touring attracted fans and supporters all over the U.S., Latin America and U.K. With live performances so well received, KINKY played over 180 shows in the year, travelling the world while working on their next album ?Atlas?. KINKY changed location for the recording of ?Atlas?, heading to a secluded ranch in Quintana Roo, Mexico. In the serenity of the isolated jungle, they found both creativity and productivity, composing seven of the album?s eleven songs. ?It was vacation and hard work at the same time,? remembers Gil, ?and when we were in the jungle we were surrounded everywhere by insects and animals. One time as I was recording vocals, a bug came directly in to my mouth .... It was fun to have that kind of interaction!? For the remainder of the album, KINKY travelled to Los Angeles to work with venerable engineer Thom Russo (System of a Down, Audioslave). Russo helped the band bring out a more raw and rock-driven sound in comparison with their electro-pop dominated debut; ?The approach for this album was different from the first in that on this one we wanted to focus on a live, organic band sound,? says Ulises. ?In the first album we recorded ourselves and made loops. On this record we didn?t use as many loops or samples. It was more like a live session where we?d record the whole track on tape [too], rather than just digital. You can hear all the organic sounds like guitar, drum, bass and vocals all sounding live.? ?Atlas? has enjoyed huge success and confirmed KINKY?s status as the Mexican demi-Gods of the music world. With singles ?Presidente? and ?Headphonist? A and B listed on radio playlists worldwide and many high profile performances, including the MTV Latin Music Awards, and supporting the almighty Vasco Rossi on his Italian arena tour, KINKY are in an amazingly good place right now. Jet: "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is"

Atlantic recording group Jet has revealed the first details of their eagerly awaited second album. Dubbed "SHINE ON," the Aussie rock sensations' follow-up to 2003's RIAA platinum-plus debut, "GET BORN," is set to land in stores on October 3rd. Produced by Dave Sardy - who helmed "GET BORN," as well as recent efforts by such bands as Oasis and Dirty Pretty Things - the album sees Jet again putting their own contemporary stamp on classic guitar-fuelled rock 'n' roll. The album's first single, "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," will impact multiple radio formats on August 7th. The Melbourne-based band spent much of 2005 and 2006 writing and demoing "SHINE ON" at a variety of studios around the world, including Barbados, Massachusetts, and their home country of Australia. The sessions wound up this spring with a marathon burst of creativity at Sardy's Hillside Manor Studios in Los Angeles. Coinciding with the release of "SHINE ON," Jet will embark on a whirlwind tour of the U.S., slated to run from September 18th through October 6th. Dates will be announced shortly. The band will return to the States in late-November for a full-blown tour of North America. * * * * * Jet came together in 2001, united by a mutual passion for straight-up rock 'n' roll in all its many guises, from blues and garage to punk and psychedelia. Their goal from the outset was to give new life to their inspirations, invigorating classic sounds with fresh fervor and dollops of contemporary energy. Raw, direct, and instantly irresistible, Jet's vibrant sonic style and heartfelt devotion to exuberant songcraft caused a frenzy in their native Australia and soon caught fire around the world. Released in 2003, "GET BORN" proved an international blockbuster, with worldwide sales exceeding three and a half million units. Driven by a fistful of massively successful hit singles - including the #1 smashes "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Cold Hard Bitch," as well as "Rollover DJ" and "Look What You've Done" - the album instantly established Jet as one of the most potent and popular rock outfits on the planet. In the U.S., both "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Look What You've Done" earned RIAA platinum digital single certifications. The band also earned a rep as an electrifying live outfit, blowing up stages everywhere they played - as headliners, festival showstoppers, and special guests of such like-minded superstars as Oasis. Jet has received a long list of international awards, highlighted by an MTV Video Music Award for 2004's "Best Rock Video," for the "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" clip. Also included on the band's honor roll are an American Music Awards' nomination as "Favorite Artist - Alternative Music," and a triumphant six trophy sweep of 2004's ARIA Music Awards in their home country. Jet is: Nic Cester - guitar, vocals; Chris Cester - drums, vocals; Cam Muncey - guitar, vocals; Mark Wilson - bass.
