Hey I'm Matthew Moskovciak from CNET and we're gonna take a look at the onkyo TX -- 414. This is a budget five point one AV receiver currently selling for 280 dollars. Like all -- as AV receivers it's not a very stylish looking receiver. It's kind of boxy look with a lot of sharp edges and there's a ton of buttons on the front that you probably never use. Included remote is decent although the buttons are small and like the front panel it's a little more -- than it needs to be. Now that bare bones -- carries over to the user interface which is just basic white text. Rather than a -- -- graphical user interface that's found -- a lot more expensive receivers. In fact in our 414 is missing a lot of features available on more expensive receivers it's just a five point one receiver rather than seven point one receiver. And there's no automatic speaker calibration. Analog -- up conversion or built in -- But I don't really consider any of those features to be that important and the onkyo covers the essentials really well. Around back it has six HDMI imports which is outstanding for this price in should be enough for most home theaters. The -- also has built in networking via its ethernet port plus -- sells a twenty dollar USB adapters and Wi-Fi. Most manufacturers -- closer to a hundred dollars for their Wi-Fi accessories so the cheaper dongle isn't nice office. Built in networking allows the receiver to stream a bunch of audio from different online sources including pandora Spotify rhapsody and Internet -- It also allows you to control the receiver via IQ Smartphone app. And that's a particularly nice feature on this receiver because it lets you browse music services right on the app rather than using a lousy on screen user days. We have cnet's resident golden -- Steve Guttenberg take a listen to the accurate sound quality. Overall it performed pretty well although it wasn't noticeable step down from more expensive receivers like last year's -- -- -- 1912. Action movies sounded a little less dynamic and with the down -- -- -- CD's -- more compare all. But altogether it's hard to argue with the -- -- value. For less than 300 dollars you get six HDMI inputs and networking functionality which is a lot more than its competitors are offering. However it is worth considering the step up onkyo TX and 515. Which has a lot of those missing features I mentioned before for just 65 dollars more. I'm Matthew Moskovciak and this is the onkyo TX and are well.

Onkyo TX-NR414 Review
The good: The Onkyo TX-NR414 is an extremely affordable receiver with six HDMI inputs. It has built-in networking with extensive streaming-audio support, including Pandora, Spotify, Rhapsody, and Internet radio. Wi-Fi functionality can be added with a tiny, inexpensive USB adapter.
The bad: The TX-NR414 lacks several features that would have been nice, such as a graphical user interface, 7.1 channels, automatic speaker calibration, and AirPlay. User reviews of Onkyo products sometimes complain about unreliability, though the TX-NR414 has gotten good user reviews.
The bottom line: The Onyko TX-NR414 offers the best AV receiver value for those with a tight budget, although the step-up TX-NR515 model is worth the extra cash if you can afford it.
