Acura's RLX concept to replace its current sedan Video Transcript

This is the Acura RLX concept. Now, don't let the work concept fool you because Acura has a tendency to put their pre production cars out as concepts and then in a couple of auto shows, maybe a few months, show a production version is very similar to what you see here. This car will actually replace the current RL Sedan. We see a lot of good stuff in this car. For one thing, the power train is totally new This actually uses Acura's super handling hybrid power train that they announced last year and we're seeing it in the this car for the first time. Under the hood, we've got a direct injection, 3.5 litter B6 and that actually comes with electric motor too. Both of those drive the front wheels. Now, to give it that all wheel drive name, they actually put a dual electric motor assembly on the rear axels. So, that turns the rear wheels and also gives opportunity to do a torque vectory. They can throw some torque to one wheel and slow down the other wheel. That will make it handle a lot better. With this chunky car, that will probably help us handling a lot Acura also says though, they will offer a version of this car without the hybrid system. So it will just have the 3.5 litter Grec injection engine and that will give it a little over 300 horse power and probably pretty good fill economy too. Now, inside, the RLX, they've got a whole new bunch of cabin technology that they're launching. We'll see a new navigation system. This is will be the latest from Acura. We'll also see some connective features too. So what Acura is doing, is they're partnering with a company called AHA. AHA will give you things like Facebook and Twitter and all that but instead of seeing Facebook updates and Tweets on the screen, the system will actually read this out to you. So we should be seeing a production version of this car, the RLX probably by the Los Angeles auto show. Now, that's in December of this year. I'm Wayne Cunningham. Here at the 2012 New York Auto show.
