>> John: I'm John Falcone, Senior Editor at CNET.com and this is the Acoustic Energy AE-29; this is a Bluetooth speaker system with detachable speakers. When the speakers are locked into place it's easy to move the AE-29 from room to room, but unlock the speakers and they can be put up to 3 feet away from the central base station, which gives you better stereo separation. Acoustic Energy is known for its high-end speakers in the U.K. but the AE-29 doesn't feel all that luxurious, it's light-weight plasticy construction is just a notch or two above most iPod speaker systems. The system is designed to stream audio from any A2DP enabled Bluetooth device, you pair the speaker with your Bluetooth device by holding down the button for a few seconds and typing the access code into the unit. There's no remote but besides volume and power there's not really anything to control. Sound quality was similar to what we've heard from other similarly priced Bluetooth speaker systems, it's fine but it won't blow away audio files. The system also has a line-in port so it can accept a direct connection from a non-Bluetooth device as well including iPods and PC's.
