Lily Allen: "Smile"

?I guess I knew from an early age that I could never do a job where I?d have to sit in an office all day long,? says Lily Allen. It seems unlikely Allen will be confined to a cubicle any time soon. The 21-year-old artist, pronounced by NME as ?the archetypal singer-songwriter for the iPod generation,? took Britain by storm this past summer with her debut album Alright, Still rocketing onto the U.K. Album chart at #2 and her first U.K. single, ?Smile,? topping the U.K. Airplay chart for six weeks in a row. Now she?s set her sights on America ? and early reports indicate she won?t exactly be flying under the radar here, either. ?She symbolizes a new blogging-age, middle-class girl: cockily ambitious, skeptical yet enthusiastic, technically savvy, musically open, obsessed with public expression and ready to fight back,? said The New York Times in a feature on Lily. Allen was born in Hammersmith, a borough in Greater London, and grew up all over London ? Shepherds Bush, Bloomsbury, Islington. ?I went to 13 different schools so I never had time to make enduring friendships. Music became a lifeline to me. I listened to punk, ska and reggae, courtesy of my parents? record collections,? she says, which explains why, in addition to numerous up-and-coming dance artists she counts The Specials, T. Rex, The Slits and Blondie as favorites.

Kosheen: "Overkill"

The Kosheen sound has always been about integrating electronica with great song structures, and, locked down in the studio recording 'Damage', the band has created a subtly futuristic soundtrack for the 21st century. From the spacious titular track itself to the pop-driven forthcoming single 'Overkill' (about, says Sian, "personal or political frustration"); from the early 80s synth-stabbed 'Chances' to the epic hum of 'Under Fire', hefty beats jostle with acidic bleeps, Morricone guitars, plangent synths and haunting piano. Look out, too, for the rather swaggering majesty of closing track, ‘Your Life,’ which, says Markee, "grew from its opening chords – it stinks of flava!"

Mary Go 'Round: "Techno Party"

The new video for Mary Go 'Round's single "Techno Party" from the up coming album "Come Down."

Circuit: "Complicated"

Complicated is the first single from Circuit's debut record "Eau De Humanity." You can purchase "Eau De Humanity" from such fine retailers as Tower Records, Borders, Amazon and wherever great music is sold. The concept developed around the video is that once people come in contact with each other they already know the song. Watch closely as all the principle actors are signing the words. The song is track seven on Circuit's debut "Eau De Humanity." The video is a live setting and was shot over two days.

Get Inspired

Also some self-recorded sounds and some self-composed music, though lots of sound effects and music samples were taken from free internet sources. LightWave3D, Photoshop, After Effects, Acid Pro. The original video-material is saved as 7489 single 1920x1080 PNG frames.

Dolores O' Riordan: "Ordinary Day"

Taking her time after the demise of The Cranberries (who sold 40 million records worldwide), Dolores O'Riordan retreated to real life with her husband. She had three children and wrote over 30 songs. She never rushed. And when she was ready, she whittled those 30 songs down to the terrific 12 tracks that make up "Are You Listening". A logical successor to The Cranberries, but a knowingly more mature effort, "Are You Listening" takes the listener on a journey of the heart. From the rage of "Black Widow," to the sweet romance of "Apple of my Eye" to the joy of first single "Ordinary Day," O'Riordan always was - and remains - one of the few vocalists that can capture emotion in a song.
