Acer Aspire One AOD150 Video Transcript

>> Dan: I'm Dan Ackerman and we're here with the new Acer Aspire One, this is actually a new 10 inch version of Acer's very popular Aspire 1 9 inch NetBook. Acer's pretty much controlled the entire Netbook market because their Aspire One is about 350 bucks, that's like 50 or 100 bucks cheaper than any other Netbook out there. What they've done with the new 10 inch version is keep the same basic Intel and CPU, one Gig of RAM, Windows XP obviously add the bigger screen and the best part still 350 bucks, so if you're looking for a big 10 inch Netbook don't want to spend a lot of bread this is the way to go. There are a couple little hints that this is kind of a budget product there's kind of no Bluetooth in it and the touch-pad see is very small, it's very square, these little left and right mouse buttons are on this little rocker switch that's actually hard to press down, I got to press really hard it's kind of annoying, the keyboard's not terrible especially for a 10 inch Netbook it's not as good as the one on the HP Mini 1,000 that's a really good, really big flat keyboard but certainly very useable. One of the best things we like about this new 10 inch Acer Aspire is the great battery life you can get almost 6 hours out of it but it's got this big chunky 6 cell battery right here on the back so you're gonna be carrying this around, adds some bulk, adds some weight. I'm Dan Ackerman and that's the Acer Aspire One. ^E00:01:22

The large, 20-inch Acer Aspire 9800 offers a decent multimedia experience, but you'd be better off buying a more portable laptop and a detached display.

The inexpensive and lightweight Acer Aspire 3000 offers basic laptop functionality.

Acer Aspire 8920

With Blu-ray and a true 1080p display, the 18-inch Acer Aspire 8920 is a movie fan's dream, but we'd go for the cheaper of Acer's two preconfigured models.

Acer Aspire One D250

For the price, it's hard to find fault with Acer's even cheaper version of the 10.1-inch Aspire One, as long as you're not expecting top-of-the-line features.

Acer Aspire L310

The Aspire L310 works as a trim, affordable computer that will also serve light home-theater-PC duties. It doesn't offer as much room for improvement as its competition, but as long as you don't have plans for upgrading or running Windows Vista full bore,

Acer Aspire One.

The Acer Aspire One is easily the best of the current under-$400 Netbooks, but its meager allotment of memory and tiny battery limit its appeal.

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi

The fully equipped, multimedia-minded Acer Aspire 9500 gives pricey, entertainment-focused desktop replacements a serious run for their money.

Acer Aspire 5000

The unexciting yet inexpensive Acer Aspire 5000 is a decent desktop-replacement laptop for basic home and small business use.

Acer Aspire X1200-U1520A

The Acer Aspire X1200-U1520A is a speedy, compact, low-end desktop that's powerful enough to serve as a light-duty home theater PC. Expansion is limited by an especially cramped interior (even for a small PC), but the total package is worthwhile for PC shoppers on a budget.

Acer Aspire AX3200-U3600A

As much as Acer's Aspire X3200 surpasses other pricier PCs with its wide array of useful inputs and outputs, you'll have a hard time choosing between it and its otherwise identical dual-core Acer linemate of the same price. If you're a multitasker on a budget, you'll likely prefer this model's triple-core CPU.

Acer Aspire One D150 Review

Editors' rating

The good: Very inexpensive 10-inch Netbook; decent keyboard and battery.

The bad: Heavy for a Netbook, terrible touch pad and mouse buttons.

The bottom line: The new 10-inch Aspire One AOD150 will further cement Acer's lead in the Netbook market, largely on account of its rock-bottom price.
