Acer Aspire AS5742G-7200 Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Scott Stein, senior associate editor at cnet.com and this is the Acer Aspire 5742G-7200. Now, if you consider your laptops like trucks that you just wanna get work down with them and you just care about the specs and you wanna save some money, well, this is the laptop for you. It is utterly an exciting in its design. It is blonde, black, plastic, but for $750. It's got a Core i5 processor and some nice and video GeForce graphics that amount to some great value compared to the competition. In fact, it's very similar to what we found in the entry level, Dell XPS 15 over the holiday season. Now, that was $850, this is $750. What is this lacking compared to the other? Well, speakers are really weak. We don't like its trackpad, the keyboard, I find, was not so great. It's also lacking some of the high-end ports that you might find in some others like USB 3.0. It doesn't have Bluetooth. On the other hand, its graphic performance is really good. It's able to play mainstream games if that's what you're looking for and heck, the Core i5 processor while it's not the new Sandy Bridge processor generation, which is going to be a nice step-up, it still gets the job done from multitasking and anything basic you might need. However, for just a little bit more, you could get a laptop that has a better design, has a better battery life and it's kind of a little bit cooler, but then, you maybe that person who just cares about the price and how it performs. In that case, maybe the Acer Aspire is the laptop for you. If you were the other person, you might consider looking somewhere else. I'm Scott Stein and this is the Acer Aspire 5742G-7200.
