CNET Live - Episode 104

by Tom Merritt
It's speculation day. We speculate on the successes of the new Microsoft search engine called Bing, the new Google e-mail and IM thingy called Wave, and whether the Palm Pre will end up on AT&T.

Can I get a 3G data card that will work in USA and Brazil?
Check your carrier before you sign up to make sure they roam in Brazil. Even so, it's going to be expensive for a world plan. It might be better to just wait until you get to Brazil to get the card, or go with a prepaid card in the US for six months and then get a new card in Brazil.

Thank you a million for taking my video question!
Be sure that with 3G or not I will keep watching CNETV in Brazil!
(But don't think I will pay $20 /Mb to watch it!) :)
Thank you for the good job!

Rafael, you really should hold buying a card in the US (or get a prepaid card while still there) and wait to get one once you move to Brazil, directly from a Brazilian mobile carrier (such as Vivo, Claro or Tim). All these carriers provide decent 3G coverage in major cities and you can get an unlimited plan for something close to US$50,00/month (expensive, but better than US$20,00/MB). Also, some carriers will even give you a free or a largely discounted wireless modem with an unlimited data package.
