Best iPhone applications

by Tom Merritt

In our latest Top 5 video, we (myself with the help of Download's Jason Parker ad Webware's Josh Lowensohn) give you our take on the top 5 best iPhone applications.

I know at least one of you disagrees, though. Or will. So watch the video, then come back and post your reactions on the blog. Next week we'll do it all over again with the worst iPhone applications.

My top 5 iPhone apps

1. Zenbe (great list maker with sync functionality to web service)
2. Trip Planner (excellent interface for public transportation in Berlin)
3. Metasquares (best mind sport)
4. Blue Skies (amazing shoot 'em up helicopter game)
5. Asphalt 4 Elite Racing (by far the best racing game)

btw, Midomi does everything Stanza does and more. So, why do people prefer Stanza?!

Regarding the Shazam app. It's not free. They will charge you a monthly subscription of $4. Just a heads up.

I would say my top 5 (free, because I haven't found cause to pay for one yet) apps are:
1. WhitePages mobile app (by far the most usefull and used app on my iPhone)
2. Simplify Media (forget Pandora, I had it and deleted it. I like listening to my over 12,000 songs in my personal library, and up to 30 of my friends shared libraries from anywhere)
3. Facebook (I didn't like Facebook until this app)
4. AirMe (great for Flickr addicts)
5. YouNote (you can collect your thoughts or daily goings on in any format, convenient and awesome!)

my number 4. was a mistake, I meant to say:
4. Exposure. AirMe is only for posting photos, that's whack I don't use it much. Exposure allows you to view your Flickr sets and find others photos fast easy and free. There is no need for a Flickr app unless they add viewing video content to theirs.

It seem like you like music. I'm just wondering if you've had a chance to check out an application called, notehint? It's new. I like it.
