The 404 1,087: Where we talk about it without ruining it (podcast)

With Justin Yu still under the weather, The 404 Show once again experiments with Joe Kaminski filling in. We consider ourselves very lucky to have a guest with super-powers on our program. The first power is his knack for going on obscenely long tangents about the most meaningless of topics. The second is the ability to give spoiler-free movie reviews, more specifically of The Amazing Spiderman, which was just released.

Next it's off to a discussion on Android and the fact that only 10-percent of those devices have Ice Cream Sandwich running on them. What's even more confusing is that Jelly Bean (ICS' successor) was just released last week. It's arguably the most annoying Android reality, so we weigh its pros and cons.

Finally, we touch on EA's recent statement that the company will soon be distributing games 100-percent digitally. This shouldn't be much of a surprise, since EA already goes out of the way to combat used game sales (see EA Online Pass).

But perhaps the most exciting news of the day is the introduction of the official 404 trucker hat (pictured above). The 404 743: Where it's complicated with Caroline McCarthy (podcast)

Caroline McCarthy from CNET's The Social blog joins us on today's podcast to discuss this morning's Oscar nominations and eight nods for "The Social Network" including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay Adaptation, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Original Score.

The film undoubtedly deserves the recognition, but it seems they left off Andrew Garfield for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Eduardo Saverin, Facebook's co-founder and a 5 percent shareholder of the $2.5 billion company.

Despite this oversight, Garfield will likely have another chance with his upcoming role as the famous Webslinger in the upcoming reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. The rest of the cast includes Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson.

But there's no chance the movie will be quite as awful as "Turn off the Dark," Broadway's version of the Spider-Man genesis wrought with disaster even in the face of its new finale.

Wilson checked out an early preview of the show and has an equally negative review to share that makes this Onion headline sound right on the mark: "Nuclear Bomb Detonates During Rehearsal For 'Spider-Man' Musical." We blame Bono.

As usual, the Razzie nominations were announced today in conjunction with the Oscars, and it's no surprise that the "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" swept the Golden Raspberries for Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Robert Pattinson), Worst Screenplay, and...actually, the movie appears in all the categories except for Worst Supporting Actress and Worst Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3D, where they were ineligible to be nominated.

The 404 723: Where we eat a bacon explosion (podcast)

CNET's social-networking expert Caroline McCarthy fills in for Wilson and gives us her take on Mark Zuckerberg's appearance on "60 Minutes" Sunday.

We also discuss a variety of topics that include a $62,000 iPhone 4 encrusted with authentic dinosaur teeth and bits of meteor, a reboot to the original Tomb Raider video game, news on the forthcoming musical based on "American Psycho," and the real reason Wilson is currently in China.

Now that the New York Marathon is over, Caroline has the flexibility to indulge in food experimentation like the Bacon Explosion, which sounds like a meat lover's dream come true, except that Caroline is (mostly) vegetarian!

The Bacon Explosion was created by a Web site called BBQ Addicts, and consists of a 5X5 weave of bacon with bits of pork sausage sprinkled on top and fortified with even more bacon bits, all rolled into a disgustingly filling log of meat.

We're able to pull ourselves away from the images of bacon to chat about Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's interview on "60 Minutes" with Lesley Stahl. Although not everyone was happy about his "performance," there's no doubt Zuckerberg has evolved as a CEO since his last interview with Stahl on "60 Minutes" three years ago.

On the show, Mark discusses the newest Facebook profile revisions, "The Social Network," and his relationship to Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the identical twins who accused him of stealing their idea for the original Facebook. Check out the face behind Facebook here!

Wilson is currently in China, but we're hoping he stops by the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve Center to join scientists as they dress up like giant Pandas to re-acclimate cubs back into the wild.

Although it's certainly more humanitarian, the panda plushies sound a lot like Furry Fandom, a phenomenon that takes interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or mythology creatures that are supposed to take on characteristics of the human being inside the costume. We'll leave the rest for Caroline to describe!
