Our guest on today's episode is Alex Winter. You might recognize him as Ted from "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," but you might not know that he's also a documentary filmmaker. His latest project is a story about the rise and fall of Napster called "Downloaded."
It traces the history of the file-sharing service but it also looks at the industry waves it caused in its aftermath, leading up to Spotify and iTunes as it exists today.
We'll talk with Alex about the road to making the movie, his introduction to Sean … Read more
So much for the honeymoon.
Sean Parker -- Napster co-founder, first Facebook president, portrayed on the big screen by Justin Timberlake -- had expected to spend early June relaxing with his longtime girlfriend and new bride, Alexandra Lenas.
Instead, the newlyweds and their newborn are holed up at an undisclosed location in Menlo Park, Calif., while Parker works the phones to get out his side of a story he describes as "simultaneously the silliest and the most damaging PR crisis that I've had to deal with."
If you've missed the uproar, just Google "Sean Parker … Read more
You may not have slept lately for worrying what Sean Parker has done for our environment.
Yes, in being one of the originals at Facebook, he helped create a world in which our noses permanently point downward, our friends are permanently virtual and our eyes must watch carefully over every word written by the company in small letters.
But I wasn't thinking about that.
I was thinking about the mounds of kerfuffle created after details were revealed about his wedding.
It appears that former Facebook president Sean Parker has inadvertently become an environmentalist to save his wedding.
He has agreed to dole out $2.5 million in a settlement with the California Coastal Commission over the construction of an immense wedding venue in an ecologically sensitive area of state. That comes on top of the $10 million he spent on his lavish wedding this past weekend to singer-songwriter Alexandra Lenas.
In a little nook of the redwood forest in Big Sur, Calif., Parker commissioned the custom-made construction of what seems like a small village for his wedding day. In addition … Read more
Google is reportedly talking with eyewear upstart Warby Parker about designing less geeky frames that would include the Glass apparatus. Warby Parker recently opened its first "flagship" shop, located in New York's trendy Soho district. It's a the perfect location to attract the trendy geeks who want to be the first in their hood to don Google's smart glasses.
For Glass buyers requiring … Read more

The company announced Tuesday that it has enlisted A-list celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jonathan Adler to either host or star in original Web series. AOL plans to debut all of the shows on its AOL On Network, which is the company's video platform, and across its 1,700 partner sites. The series themes range … Read more
This week, some old-time rumors reared their heads.
Amazon has something secret up its sleeve -- possibly. A former Windows Phone exec recently stated on his LinkedIn profile that he's working on something "secret" and "wonderful." Could Amazon finally be letting its Amazon phone cat out of the bag? Let's hope not.
And finally, not to be outdone, Apple supposedly held some secret meetings at the Game Developers Conference … Read more

Those of you who think Google Glass eyewear looks a bit geeky may be in store for a more fashionable approach.
Neither Google nor Warby Parker would comment on the reported talks to the Times. Google also told CNET that it had nothing to share. CNET contacted Warby Parker for comment and will update the story if we receive any information.
