The startup will shut down its service to join Yahoo's video team. Evntlive, which launched in April 2013, aimed to "change the way that fans engage with live music online by creating an interactive, virtual venue," according to the site's blog post.
But the films the festival showcases are very much a reflection of the real world and times, and so it's no surprise to see a lineup released this week for next year's festival that delves into our increasingly digital lives, including the dark sides. Two of the documentaries competing in January deal with Internet addiction, and another is on the life and tragic death of Internet activist Aaron Swartz.

Consumers can save a bundle and avoid big crowds by shopping online this holiday season. But can they also avoid paying sales tax?
Online shopping is appealing because sites like Amazon not only offer convenience but in many cases they also offer lower prices than their brick-and-mortar competitors. And in some states, online holiday shoppers can sweeten those savings by not paying sales tax, which they'd otherwise be forced to pay if they shopped at a retailer with a physical storefront in their state.
This may be good news for shoppers, but it's bad news for states, which … Read more

The e-commerce Web sites argue that customers shouldn't be forced to pay state sales tax since these companies do … Read more
