Do you always glance at the clock when the numbers hit 2:22? Or do number dates that line up just so make you nervous or excited? Then today, which brings the one-of-a-kind day-month-year lineup 11-12-13, is your day. Unless, of course, you live in Europe, where people write the day ahead of the month, 12-11-13.
Numerology is the mystical belief that numbers hold special meanings and possible divination of significant events to come. Many numerologists study double "master numbers" -- such as 11 and 22 -- and their significance in Viking Runes, the Kabbalah, and the I Ching. Not to mention the endless studies on such unlucky numbers as 666 (sign of the Beast); 13 (in Western culture); and 4 (in Chinese culture).
Whether you're new to this numbers game or already hooked, Sudoku1 offers numerous ways to play. There are some challenges to the dated interface, but the actual game screen looks fine and you can customize it nearly anyway you want. The biggest downside wasn't its utilitarian design, however; it was the background music that played with no apparent way to turn it off.
When you open Sudoku1 for the first time, you need to choose between French and English. You're then presented with a small but somewhat confusing array of options divided into Championship Mode and Free … Read more
Making the rounds today is a report detailing Google's plans to use your verified phone number to display your name and Google+ profile photo as your caller ID. The feature comes as part of Android 4.4 KitKat's smarter caller ID, where it will display business names when a business calls you, should you not have the number stored in your address book.
The plan is to expand beyond businesses and to individuals in early 2014. After the feature is launched, when you call an Android user (running Android 4.4 KitKat) who doesn't have your number … Read more
I'm not sure what's cooler about RingMeMaybe: the name or what it does.
It's a toss-up. RingMeMaybe generates disposable phone numbers right on your iPhone, the idea being to protect your privacy while still making yourself available by phone.
Let's say you're selling something on Craigslist, which, as we all know, can bring out the nutjobs. Ideally, you'd rather not give out your real home or mobile number. Same goes for the guy you just met at the bar.
A temporary number allows for phone contact without making your real number public.

One of the biggest complaints echoed by many iOS users since the introduction of iMessage and FaceTime with iOS 5 has been the inability to block people.
All it would take was one person getting your iMessage or FaceTime phone number or e-mail address, and you were an open target to constant messages and calls.
With iOS 6 Apple added the ability to silence messages originating from addresses not stored in your Contacts, but there was still no way to block a user.
Talking Flash Cards Toddlers from PapaTsoftware is a basic educational program aimed at a basic set of learners -- toddlers. While TFCToddlers has some advantages (mainly that it's free as well as ad-free) it also has some disadvantages -- chief among them the clipped, unnatural, and difficult-to-comprehend audio prompts voiced by Microsoft Anna.
TFCToddlers has a full-screen interface, which helps reduce distractions so your inquisitive youngster can focus on the cards. Unfortunately, program options such as Timer Value, Sound, and Case are also a part of the interface, just to the right of the main screen, or exactly where … Read more
Apple reported a big figure for iPhone sales in its third quarter and earnings that were just above what Wall Street was expecting.
The company saw $35.6 billion in sales, which is slightly up from its earnings in the same period last year. Not all the figures met expectations though. Sales for iPads and Macs were down from the previous year, and Apple didn't even bother to report iPod sales. (Apple sold 6.8 million iPods in the third quarter of 2012.)
Here's a look at some of the 2013 Q3 numbers that Apple did want to … Read more

ICANN's new gTLD program will expand the types of Internet extensions that are available -- such as .com, .… Read more
