Identity fraud in U.S. is on the rise, report

While cyberattacks and hacking seem to be constantly making headlines these days, identity fraud is also on the rise.

A new report by Javelin Strategy and Research shows that identity fraud has increased for the last three years in a row -- affecting more than 5 percent of U.S. adults. In 2012, 12.6 million people were identity victims.

According to Javelin, identity fraud is up 4.9 percent from 2011 and 4.35 percent from 2010. The firm said that scammers are increasingly gaining access to people's personal information and accounts through data breaches and malware attacks.… Read more

ID fraud up, but low-tech methods still prevalent

Identity fraud rose 22 percent in 2008 from the year before, reaching the highest level since 2004, according to a report released on Monday by Javelin Research.

Of nearly 4,800 U.S. adults who were surveyed over the telephone, 482 said they had been victims of identity fraud, the report found.

AT&T launches Wi-Fi-enabled RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320

It's not quite the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka BlackBerry Javelin) everyone was hoping for but on Tuesday, AT&T added a new BlackBerry to its lineup: the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320.
