Steve Jobs biopic to premiere at Sundance next month

The first film about Apple co-founder Steve Jobs since his death last year will be the "one more thing" at the famed Sundance Film Festival next month.

The festival's organizers today announced that "jOBS" would be the closing night film on January 27, marking the film's first public showing.

The film, which is not to be confused with a separate production penned by "The Social Network" and "The West Wing" writer Aaron Sorkin, stars Ashton Kutcher as Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. The film will cover the years 1971 through 2000. … Read more

Google dominated U.S. searches in January

Big surprise, Google continued to reign over all other U.S. search engines in January with 66.2 percent share, according to data released today by market researcher ComScore.

Not only did Google overshadow all other engines, it also managed to take some of Yahoo's traffic and grow by 0.3 percentage points.

Yahoo did not have it easy last month--users' searches decreased by 0.4 percent putting it at 14.1 percent share. It was the only search engine not to increase share or at least keep the status quo in January.

For those waiting for a Verizon iPhone, the wait may not be much longer. Citing a person familiar with Apple's plans "who isn't authorized to discuss them publicly," Bloomberg has been reporting that Apple will "probably" introduce a Verizon iPhone after next week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. With the bulk of the holiday shopping buzz dying down, rumors of Apple's new iPad 2 have sprung to life. The most recent rumor, courtesy of the Mobile Review blog editor-in-chief Eldar Murtazin, says the iPad 2 will include a USB port.

Intel cuts prices on some chips up to 48 percent

On Sunday, Intel instituted broad price cuts on processors, spanning the Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, Pentium dual-core, Celeron, and Xeon product lines.

Some of the cuts are in response to Advanced Micro Devices' recently-introduced Phenom II "Dragon" desktop platform. AMD's Phenom II X4 940 (3.0GHz), for instance, is priced at $275.
