At E3, Microsoft announced a price and release date for the Xbox One. And Sony announced the price, release date, and used-games policy for the PlayStation 4. But because of all the hoopla, I think that Microsoft is going to ease up on its restrictions. What do you think?

Also, Samsung could beef up its Galaxy Note lineup, and an analyst predicts you'll be wearing an iWatch by the end of the year. … Read more

iFixit tears down the new AirPort Extreme

iFixIt took a look at the guts of the new MacBook Air, as well as the new AirPort Extreme base station, which Apple unveiled at WWDC 2013. The new AirPort Extreme offers more advancements in speed, connectivity, and capacity than its predecessors and has a new design, to boot.

Instead of being squat and flat, the new design is an elongated cube that looks like a brick standing upright. Apple claims this was required to implement a major advancement with directional antennas that should extend both the range and speed of connections to wireless devices.

This new design has spurred … Read more

Review: ResizeIt quickly changes photo size and format

ResizeIt for Mac successfully modifies large numbers of photos with different sizes and formats. The interface is rather dated but the program performs all of its functions well.

As people take more digital photos, the differing sizes and perspectives make organizing them into albums difficult. ResizeIt for Mac permits users to change these images so that they match in size. The program's menu was dated and had no graphics or animations for easier identification of functions, but the readme file offered some basic instructions. Instead of having one program that worked with all Mac OS X versions, the download included two separate folders, one for version 10.8 and one for earlier versions.
