RIM lowers drawbridge on BB10 app submissions

It's official, BlackBerry 10 developers: RIM has declared open season for BB10 app submissions. A recent post on the company's development blog confirms that RIM is now accepting entries for applications that specifically target the long-anticipated BlackBerry 10 operating system.

The post in question also lays out how to begin the submission process to the BlackBerry storefront as well offering links to the Beta3 Developer SDK, if you'd like to get in on the coding action. Microsoft rolls out Windows 8 app updates ahead of time

Getting ahead of the game, Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 8 built-in app updates. This is weeks before the October 26 official unveiling of Windows 8.

In a blog post today, the software giant listed all of the additions and updates that Windows 8 built-in apps will be getting. Skydrive, mail, messaging, photos, maps, news, travel, weather, and more will get new features and performance and reliability improvements.

How to disable Chrome's PDF viewer

Google Chrome's built-in PDF viewer can make opening PDFs super quick. Unfortunately, you don't have access to all of the same tools you can use in apps like Adobe Reader. RIM launches Built for BlackBerry

RIM has just launched the Built for BlackBerry program, which promises to let consumers know if a particular accessory or case was specifically designed for a BlackBerry product via a Built for BlackBerry logo. This is similar to Apple's own Made for iPhone program. Companies that are in line to have Built for BlackBerry products in the coming year include Case-mate, Speck, Incipio, Otterbox, Tru Protection, iGrip, Vaja, Dicota, and Trexta.
