At the Apple Store: Watching Geniuses watch the iPad Mini

The power cord to my MacBook Air had frayed like Demi and Ashton, so I thought I'd wander to my local Apple store to be happily gouged out of $79.

I timed my visit to coincide with the iPad Mini presentation from that charming cathedral in San Jose.

Among a slew of other product introductions today, Apple revealed the highly rumored iPad Mini.

In case you missed it, the pricing for the newly introduced iPad Mini starts at $329, and the device contains the same processor as the iPad 2 while sporting the cameras found in the iPad 3. It's like the two previous iterations of iPads had a baby.

Apple, I thought we had a deal.

I buy one of your products, and I'm guaranteed roughly a year feeling like I've got the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer. That's primarily been your product cycle, and it's worked out fairly well for everyone.

Sprint gets iPad Mini and fourth-generation iPad

At today's Apple event, Apple exec Phil Schiller unveiled the brand-new fourth-generation iPad, and revealed that along with a faster, more powerful A6X processor the updated "iPad 4" will have a new LTE chipset that will work on new networks, including KDDI in Japan and Sprint. The iPad Mini specs listed on the Apple Web site confirm that the smaller device will support the Sprint network as well.

The day has finally come. Apple is delivering an iPad Mini with a starting price tag of $329.

The new device, a 7.9-inch version of the 10-inch iPad tablet, goes on sale Friday and ships on November 2, Apple announced from the California Theatre in San Jose, Calif. The $329 iPad Mini will have 16GB of storage and will be Wi-Fi only.
