Virgin Mobile's Samsung M575 comes to Best Buy

Another budget phone for Virgin Mobile has entered the arena: the slide-out Samsung M575.

We've seen it before as Virgin Mobile's Samsung Restore. This no-contract QWERTY slider has a 2.4-inch LCD screen, a 2-megapixel camera and camcorder, and threaded text messaging and e-mail.

It also has a browser, Bluetooth support, a music player, and a microSD card slot that can hold up to 32GB external storage.

Sprint's Common Cents plan to become Virgin Mobile PayLo

Sprint will discontinue its Common Cents prepaid plan, CNET learned today, and will instead transition existing customers into the PayLo plan run by Virgin Mobile, a different Sprint prepaid brand.

Virgin introduces Kyocera S2100 for PayLo

If you use your phone primarily for making calls, you might not need unlimited text and data services. If so, you might be the sort of customer who would buy Virgin Mobile's latest handset, the Kyocera S2100, recently launched under its cheaper PayLo prepaid service. The S2100 is as basic as it gets, with only a VGA camera and Bluetooth, though it does allow limited Web and e-mail functionality with Yahoo Mail, Gmail, AOL, and Windows Live mail access.

As popular as unlimited text messaging and data plans are, there are still cell phone users who want affordable voice-centric plans. That's where PayLo by Virgin Mobile comes in. This lower-tier prepaid arm of Virgin Mobile is introducing a new 1,500-minute plan for $30, which also includes 500 messages and 10MB of Web access. The $30 plan expires in a month.
