Apple's Mac App Store hits 10,000 apps benchmark

Apple's Mac App Store now contains more than 10,000 applications, according to two different third-party estimates.

French outlet MacGeneration today posted its estimate of the tally based on its own data. Macrumors later pointed to its Appshopper site that pulls App Store data and currently lists the store's total at 10,334 apps.

Apple has released its 10-K annual filing, a full rundown of its fiscal year which wrapped up last month.

Less than 3 years after its celebrated opening, despite pointed punditry and challenging growing pains, Apple's App Store is about to claim 10 billion App downloads. Hitachi ups enterprise hard-drive speed

Though the new 6Gbps SATA standard that Seagate demonstrated awhile ago hasn't been available in any products yet, if you want to get that speed now, there's another option. But only enterprise customers need apply.

Hitachi introduced on Tuesday its second-generation of the 10,000rpm Ultrastar hard drive, the C10K300. The new drive uses a dual-port attached SCSI (SAS) interface that offers data rates up to 6GBps (or about 300MBps), about twice the speed of the previous model.
