We know you've been wondering about Nokia's return to metal body plates in its new flagship Nokia Lumia 925.

Well, our sister site CNET UK has the full review of the unlocked, global version. The verdict? This Windows phone is light and slim, and its sixth camera lens seems to do the trick with slightly better photos than even its Lumia 920 cuz.

The Lumia 925 is eventually coming to T-Mobile. We'll review it for U.S. readers here. In the meantime, check out CNET UK's 925 review.

Nokia readies major smartphone camera reveal July 11

Nokia fans, prepare yourself for...something. On Thursday, the Finnish maker of Windows Phone devices invited press to a New York launch event on July 11, promising that the phone maker would "reinvent zoom."

Although the invite teases nothing about a camera, I'm putting my money on another Lumia smartphone, this time, perhaps with the PureView camera zoom lens we've all been waiting for since Nokia first wowed us two years ago with its 41-megapixel monster.

Recent rumors point to a phone code-named Eos that includes a zooming camera lens, though some point out that the … Read more

How supersensitive screens get touch-y (Smartphones Unlocked)

For all of your smartphone-owning life, you've been told you can't use your expensive device while wearing gloves, no matter how low the mercury plummets. You weren't really sure why, you just knew it wasn't going to happen.

And so rocketed sales of fingerless gloves, conductive gloves, and even conductive thread for those brave (or thrifty!) enough to hack their own touch-screen hand coverings.

Then something wonderful happened that obliterated this sad certainty of specialty winterwear dependence forever, and that was Nokia.

Starting with the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, the industry got a … Read more

Leaked Nokia EOS images fuel the rumor fire

Not one, but two sources bubbled up photos on Wednesday of a Nokia Windows phone that could be the handset-maker's next flagship, after its freshly-announced Lumia 925.

Known as the Nokia EOS, photos from a GSM Arena tipster and from a new Twitter user going by ViziLeaks (via WP Central) both show a similar squared-off shape and tall dimensions.

Most importantly, the photos zero in on a prominent camera module that, in images, boasts a high-capacity sensor. The rumors point to the 41-megapixel capability that we saw in the Nokia 808 PureView, minus the enormous bulge on the camera'… Read more

Samsung to open R&D facility on Nokia's turf, report says

Samsung, which has been fighting an often-forgotten war in the feature phone space against Nokia, has fired a shot over the bow of the Finland-based company.

Nokia video ad touts Lumia 928's low-light camera

Nokia is out with another promo showing off the camera of its new Lumia 928 smartphone.

A spot posted on YouTube reveals a series of videos and photos taken by the phone under low-light conditions. One sequence shows a man dancing along a sidewalk at night. A second reveals a group of people in a dark dance hall. And another shows a girl on a swing in the evening hours.

Of course, no Nokia ad is complete without a dig at the competition. So, the spot ends with a simple comment that the Lumia 928 is better than the iPhone … Read more
