FlameBrain's WatchMe is a terrific little timer tool with a twist: it incorporates multiple, independent timers in a single interface, which makes it supereasy to track multiple events. New Nook to be unveiled May 24

Back on May 5, thanks to an SEC filing, word got out that Barnes & Noble was getting ready to unveil a new Nook on May 24.

At the time, the date wasn't set in stone, but now it is: we just received an invite to a Barnes & Noble special event in New York City at the same Barnes & Noble store where the Nook Color was announced.

Apple releases iPhoto 9.1.3 update

Apple has updated its popular iPhoto program to version 9.1.3, which addresses a problem where merged photo events could split back up again after being synced to iOS devices. The update is approximately 106MB and requires OS X 10.6.6 or later to install. It should be available through Software Update for those who have iPhoto already installed, but it can also be downloaded and applied manually from the iPhoto 9.1.3 update Web page.

Royal wedding a top destination for Web users

The royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton went off without a hitch today--both in Westminster Abbey and online.

According to global CDN provider Akamai, "early data" has revealed that the number of concurrent users streaming the royal wedding around the Web outstripped the highest peak of concurrent users who watched the World Cup last year. Akamai plans to provide final numbers on that later today.

Even so, comparing the royal wedding's performance with other major events can be difficult. For one, workers in the U.K. were given today off, which means many of them were likely watching the festivities at home from their televisions. Moreover, the event occurred when many in the United States were still sleeping, which could have negatively affected the live feed of the event, but buoyed viewership figures on videos watched later in the day.

"There are a lot of factors involved with these live events, which is why we can't call one event the biggest or larger than another," an Akamai spokeswoman told CNET in an e-mailed statement today. "It's like comparing apples and oranges sometimes."… Read more

Apple to unveil new Final Cut Pro at NAB event?

It's been awhile since a new version of Apple's Final Cut Pro video editing software was released, but that may change at next week's annual National Association of Broadcasters show. A new report from ProVideoCoalition says Apple plans on "taking over" the 10th annual SuperMeet event taking place on April 12 to announce a new version of the software.

The proof there is that some SuperMeet sponsors, including Canon, were purportedly told by event organizers that Apple had chosen SuperMeet as its venue to make the announcement and blocked out all stage time for its … Read more

Rumor: Apple to hold iOS 5, MobileMe event in early April

According to a German Web site claiming to have a reliable source, iOS 5 and the new-look MobileMe, widely expected to become a free syncing service offered by Apple, will be unveiled at an event in early April to be held on the Apple campus in Cupertino, Calif.

MacRumors.com, via Macerkopf.de, is claiming to have knowledge of the event, to be held "on Apple's campus in the 14th or 15th week of the year."
