LG is slated to host a press event on February 13 where it's expected to show off the follow-up to its Optimus G Pro.
The company sent out invites to Korea-based reporters on Friday. CNET sister site ZDNet Korea received an invite. The image shows only a door creeping open, footsteps, and the phrase, "Knock-knock knockin' on." The event will be held at LG Twin Towers in Seoul.
Several rumors have cropped up recently about the G Pro 2. LG has said that the device will come with optical image stabilization, but has been loath to provide … Read more

California regulators are stepping up their efforts to deter smartphone theft.
State Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, and other regulators will introduce a bill on Friday that would require smartphones and tablets sold in the state to have software that would completely disable the device if stolen, a concept often referred to as a "kill switch." When Boost Mobile decided to rebrand ZTE's Iconic Phablet as the Boost Max, the carrier wanted to go big -- 5.7 inches big, in fact.
But even though it's touted as Boost's first phablet and has a large touch screen, the Max isn't very "max" at all. Especially when you consider it has just a 720p display, a dual-core processor, and an average-quality 8-megapixel camera.
At $299.99 prepaid though, the device is indeed a bargain. Taking into account other handsets of similar size, it's one of the least expensive supersize phones … Read more

Flappy Bird, the newest and most savagely addicting smartphone game to have taken the mobile market by storm, is earning $50,000 in ad revenue each day, Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen revealed Wednesday in an interview with The Verge.
While that's nothing compared with the insane $850,000 Candy Crush Saga -- the App Store's longtime leader in the top grossing charts -- earns UK developer King per day, it's certainly nothing to scoff at for a non-freemium game that was uploaded in May 2013, last updated in September, and remained virtually invisible for months. Flappy Bird … Read more
