Microsoft Xbox guru Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb posted a video to his Instagram account Wednesday showcasing how quickly the Xbox One can turn on with voice commands.
The video shows Major Nelson using the "Xbox on" voice command. The Kinect hears that command and turns on the system and logs him in. The boot-up is by no means instant, but Major Nelson says that "it's faster than you can find your controller."

Windows Phone continues to eke out gains in a landscape dominated by Android and iOS.
During the third quarter, Microsoft's mobile OS share rose to 3.6 percent globally from 2.3 percent in the year-ago quarter, Gartner said in a report on Thursday. Shipments grew to 8.9 million from 3.9 million over the same period. Though Android's market share surged to more than 80 percent, Gartner dubbed Microsoft the winner of the quarter, with a gain in shipments of 123 percent.

Internet Explorer has a new leader.
Joe Belfiore, who runs Microsoft's Windows Phone design team, is taking over the Internet Explorer group. Belfiore confirmed the news on his Twitter account, saying that while he's "adding Internet Explorer and Windows [user experience]" to his list of duties, he'll still be working on the company's phone and tablet business.
