Vimeo gets Creative Commons, global settings

Video host Vimeo on Tuesday is rolling out a new feature that will users apply Creative Commons (CC) licenses to their uploaded videos.

In short, when a user applies one of the six standard licenses, which range from "attribution" to "attribution with noncommercial and no derivatives," it gives those who intend to use the video elsewhere a specific set of rules for what they can do with it--all without having to first contact the creator for explicit permission.

Creative Commons licensing has been available for some time on a growing number of video- and photo-sharing sites, … Read more

Creative's D200 plays big for a small Bluetooth speaker

Creative is hitching its wagon to Bluetooth in its bid to differentiate itself in this crowded speaker accessory category and is in the process of releasing several Bluetooth-enabled iPod speaker options, including the D200 ($130).

There really isn't a whole lot to this speaker. It's rather compact, measuring 3.9 inches high by 15.9 inches wide by 3.7 inches deep, and has a nice heft to it, weighing in at 3.6 pounds. Updated: Adobe CS5 Updater freezes Snow Leopard menu bar

After coming across this issue just the other day, it happened again. I opened my MacBook Pro running the newly installed CS5 and the Adobe Application Manager program had just run another update. It seems as though when a new update is found, a process within the status notification icon on the Snow Leopard menu bar freezes the rest of the icons on the bar. While logging out of the user or restarting still fixes this, it is not a permanent solution. Read past the break to see how to turn off the Adobe Application Manager menu bar notification icon.… Read more

IBM has just released its fourth annual survey based on 1500 face-to-face interviews with global CEOs. Past studies have been rich sources of understanding the trends that company leaders are seeing shaping their businesses. The opening statement by IBM's own CEO, Samuel J.
