Verizon customers hit by another 4G LTE outage

Verizon's 4G services continue to suffer growing pains with yet another outage being reported by users in several different states.

A few customers in Michigan, Arizona, and Virginia so far have posted messages about outages via the Verizon discussion forums, while Engadget has received reports of data coverage being down in Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

A fresh tweet from the company highlighted this latest issue.

"VZW is investigating customer issues in connecting to the 4GLTE data network. 3G data, voice and text services are operating reliably."

FCC requires VoIP providers to report service outages

The Federal Communications Commission has decided to require all interconnected VoIP service providers to report network outages in much the way landline and cell phone service providers must follow.

The goal of today's ruling is to build a more reliable 911 emergency call-in system and to make all of the U.S. communication infrastructure readily available in times of crisis.

Yahoo Mail suffers disruption, outage

Looks like Yahoo mail is "resting" for the afternoon.

Yahoo's e-mail service was tripped up by a disruption today that temporarily kept some users from accessing their messages.

A flood of users took to Twitter to complain about the outage today. It's unclear how widespread the problem is, but monitoring site Downrightnow.com reported a service disruption. The outage follows similar hiccups from Facebook, which was briefly down for some people last week.

Yahoo confirmed the disruption but said service had been restored.

Verizon: Here's what we're doing to fix our 4G network

Verizon has issued a post-mortem on its recent network outages, and says it's taking steps to make sure they don't happen again.

In a statement this evening, the wireless company said that despite the hiccups, it's seen 99 percent availability for its 4G LTE network for the year, and that the problems that have cropped up have been unrelated to one another.

Verizon fixes latest network outage

Verizon has had a busy month repairing network glitches.

The carrier confirmed early this morning via Twitter that it has resolved the latest outage, which hit many of its cellular data customers yesterday.

In tweeting the news, Verizon Wireless said that the 4G LTE issue was resolved overnight. 3G connectivity, as well as calling and texting, had been unaffected, the company added.

This latest incident marked the third time this month that Verizon customers across the country have bumped into a network data outage.

Verizon's network suffers third outage this month

Verizon's network has once again been hit with downtime in the U.S., with customers reporting that their phones are unable to get a data connection.

Droid Life, which picked up on the outage, says that customers have been having issues connecting to Verizon's 3G and 4G LTE networks in various major cities across the U.S. including New York, San Francisco, and Chicago.

Verizon Wireless's claims of having the most reliable wireless network are being tested, with the company experiencing two outages on its new 4G LTE network this month.

The latest outage began in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday and affected 4G customers across the nation. From New York City to Denver to Washington state, customers complained that they could not access the 4G data network. Some customers said that they weren't even able to access the 3G wireless service, despite Verizon's claims that this network was not affected.

Verizon suffers data outage across the U.S.

Verizon Wireless has been hit by a data outage preventing customers around the country from accessing the carrier's network.

People from a variety of states posting on the Verizon support forums and on Verizon's support Twitter feed are saying that data service has been out of commission as of late last night.

One person commented on Verizon's forums: "I'm in Denver, CO. Service went out at 1am MST - it's 5am MST and still no data."

Twitter Fail Robot heralds an outage for some users

Twitter experienced sporadic outages this afternoon before being resolved a short time later. Some users reported error messages when trying to use the service, although TweetDeck--owned by Twitter--was still working.

Attempts to access Twitter in San Francisco resulted in a message that displayed the Fail Robot and stated: "Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing--we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.

Others saw the Twitter Fail Whale and a message saying "Twitter is over capacity."
