Samsung thinks the Touch ID feature in the iPhone 5S is a pretty nifty idea worth including in its upcoming Galaxy S5, if a note from a Chinese analyst with a pretty solid track record of predicting upcoming smartphone features (including Touch ID) turns out to be accurate.
Apple on Monday reported record revenue for the fiscal first quarter as it sold more iPhones and iPads than ever. However, the company sold fewer iPhones than Wall Street analysts expected, and it also projected weak revenue for the current period.

Megafon, a Russia-based carrier that hasn't been able to sell the iPhone since 2009, will again get Apple's smartphone on its store shelves.
Megafon reportedly said on Monday that it signed a three-year contract with Apple. Megafon will offer several iPhone models, reported Reuters, becoming the second carrier in the country to start selling Apple's handsets again. In October, Vimpelcom was the first Russian carrier to sign a new deal to start selling the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Virgin Mobile subscribers looking for an unsubsidized version of the iPhone 5S or 5C may want to check out a new sale from the carrier.
Virgin Mobile has cut the prices of all unsubsidized editions of the two new iPhones by 10 percent. The 16GB iPhone 5S is on sale for $495, the 32GB model for $585, and the 64GB edition for $675. The 16GB iPhone 5C is selling for $405 and the 32GB flavor for $495.

The Android mobile OS finished 2013 with a rise in market share in 12 major regions around the world, research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech said Monday.
For the three months ending December 2013, Google's mobile OS showed market share gains in the US, Europe, Latin America, China, and Japan. In Europe alone, Android now holds a 68.6 percent slice of the market, according to Kantar.

The US Department of Justice on Friday argued that a US court didn't abuse its power by naming an external monitor to oversee Apple's compliance with antitrust law and that an appeals court should deny Apple's motions to get rid of the monitor.
