October 22 is Apple's big chance to show off what's expected to be the last batch of products for the year.
A little more than a month after releasing its latest pair of iPhones, Tuesday's event -- the invitations for which proclaim "We still have a lot to cover" -- should bring new versions of the iPad, as well as updated Macs and a price and release date for OS X Mavericks.
Two Wall Street analysts over the last 24 hours have been offering their take on the rumored iPad Mini Retina, including availability and size as well as more thoughts on Apple's new 64-bit architecture.
Late Tuesday in a note to investors, RBC Capital Markets Amit Daryanani said he will be closely monitoring the Mini Retina for availability due to "production constraints." Daryanani had this to say about the Mini that may (or may not, depending on the analyst) be introduced at Apple's October 22 event, along with the iPad 5:

Apple is holding its iPad event on October 22, so all the rumors will finally be put to rest. The latest, which I think will come true, is that the iPad 5 will have a Touch ID sensor, just like the iPhone 5S. A recent video from Unbox Therapy also suggests that the next-gen iPad will incorporate this touch sensor security.
I mean, why wouldn't it? It seems to be a novel idea on the iPhone 5S, and it sure does make buying things in the App Store a bit faster.
Also this week, a new report says that … Read more
Parallels Access is designed to give you remote access of your Mac or PC through your iPad's screen and it works as well as or better than promised by the developers. From the ease of opening and controlling apps to the customized interfaces for dozens of different app types, Parallels is a smooth experience that will provide a much-needed interface option for anyone that works on the go.
The one thing about Parallels Access that can be frustrating is setup and installation time. It takes a few minutes to install, verify, and then set up on your desktop. We … Read more
Apple's iPhone 5S is significantly outpacing the iPhone 5C in sales, and at least one analyst believes that trend will continue into the holiday season.
The iPhone 5S is outselling the iPhone 5C at a ratio of 2.5-to-1, Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley wrote in a note to investors on Wednesday. That news is obviously good for Apple, which generates more revenue on the iPhone 5S than iPhone 5C, but it also cements Walkley's belief that Apple will sell 52.5 million iPhones during the last quarter of the year.
The first quarter of 2014 should also … Read more
When it comes to tablets, most keyboard accessories add weight and size to the device, however, the Touchfire keyboard -- now available for the Apple iPad Mini -- does no such thing. It adds a tactile overlay to the onscreen keyboard without adding any significant bulk.
The Touchfire keyboard for the Apple iPad Mini, previously only available for the iPad 2,3, and 4, is thin, light, and extremely portable. When horizontally placed on top of the onscreen keyboard, strategically placed magnets easily align it with the tablet's bezels.
The iPad Mini Touchfire keyboard ships with a … Read more
Apple's next iPad appears to be on display in full view in a series of high-resolution photos leaked online.
Popping up on the Web site of known Apple leaker Sonny Dickson, the new photos display what appears to be the next-generation iPad in space gray, one of the colors available for the iPhone 5S.
The alleged images also show off the new thin design of the fifth-gen iPad, a trait borrowed from the iPad Mini. The full gallery displays the tablet from various angles, revealing the back casing, the sides, and even parts of the interior.

Barclays Equity Research has an interesting theory about Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip and how it could change the future of the iPad. The gist: think bigger, both in physical size and what it can do.
In a note to investors Tuesday, the firm laid out why it believes the new 64-bit architecture paves the way for a 13-inch model of the iPad that would be aimed squarely at replacing laptops for both casual and business users. That includes some of Apple's Mac portables with more productivity features.
Such a device -- which, to be clear, is speculation … Read more
