This could be the moment of reckoning for the Moto X.Amazon has dropped the price of the Verizon Wireless model of Motorola's flagship Android phone down to a single penny (with a new two-year contract, of course). So, either there's still plenty of interest in Google-owned Motorola's first true collaborative smartphone, and lowering the price to effectively nothing will amount to tons of new Verizon subscribers and a nice cut for Amazon, or...(perhaps more likely) there are tons of Moto X units taking up too much warehouse space around the country. … Read more
Verizon might be first out of the gate with its Android 4.4 update, but that doesn't mean Motorola is planning to pump the brakes any time soon. On the contrary, the hardware maker has quietly expanded its database to show no fewer than a dozen smartphones expecting the KitKat treatment.
If you swing by Motorola's software upgrade page today and go through the effort of methodically selecting carriers from the drop-down menu, you'll find that there are at least six more devices across multiple carriers that will receive an Android 4.4 update.

According to a company blog post, Verizon customers will start seeing KitKat as soon as today.
Rolling out in phases, the software brings features such as an improved dialer, new photo gallery effects, and redesigned status and notification bars. Oh, and let's not forget the colorful emojis in the keyboard.
Motorola has also folded in some custom tweaks, integrating features into services such as Touchless Control. In a move that feels entirely out of place, there are no Verizon … Read more
Phil Schiller, head of marketing at Apple, testified Friday in court here that the reason Samsung gained so much market share in smartphones was because it copied Apple. That's also why Samsung flourished while other smartphone makers such as Motorola and Nokia floundered, he said.
"There is a difference," Schiller said. "One is copying. The others are not -- as much."
Along with suing Samsung, Apple also has pursued lawsuits against Motorola, HTC, and other rivals.
Samsung's attorneys, meanwhile, have argued that people … Read more
Republic Wireless finally has its flagship smartphone in the Motorola Moto X.
The Moto X is attractively priced at $299, and can be had without signing any contracts. Try to buy the smartphone directly from Motorola in the same unlocked manner and you'll spend double that amount. Republic Wireless is able to get the price down to that point because it is willing to partially subsidize the phone, banking that its customers will remain loyal and stay with the service provider.
The Moto X can be paired with a number of Republic Wireless' rate plans which range from $5 … Read more

Upon checkout, just select Verizon as your carrier, and the discount will automatically be … Read more
My mom may not like that I have tattoos, but I'm sure she'd like it even less if I had a microphone tattooed on my throat. That's what Motorola is proposing, with a patent for a wireless mic that's tattooed on the throat and connects to a smartphone. Not only would it allow you to have "reasonably" improved communication, but it could also be used to detect lying. And it could light up! Hear that, Mom? This thing might actually be useful.
A source close to Apple told Bloomberg that the next iPhone would be larger and have a curved screen. … Read more
The Moto X is slowly but surely gaining some ground in the mobile space.

Though that is by no means massive growth, Chitika points out that its popularity seems to be steadily rising.
Motorola released the Moto X in August, and it arguably sits at the top end … Read more

Cellular provider Republic Wireless, best known for offering $19-per-month service with low-end Android handsets, recently announced plans to carry the Motorola Moto X, a decidedly high-end handset (and a widely loved one at that). Although the $19 plan is no more, you can operate the Moto for as little as $5 per month, or as much as $40. Additional options fall in between.
