CES overloaded the industry with 3D TV hype, and it's time to bust it. This week on the Roundtable, I interview CNET's own John Falcone and HDNation's Robert Heron on the practical realities, and likely future, of 3D TV.
We love getting (scheduled) visits from fans of The 404, especially when they come with treats for us! Henry Chu, aka Charlie Chu, aka Tapchus in the chat room, stopped by this morning to pick up some stickers and ended up joining us in the studio for the first segment of the show. If you're watching the video, that's Henry taking some flicks of the CNET podcast studio. Be sure to send us those pictures, Henry, and thanks for the delicious pastries!
Plenty of stories to talk about today, including a kooky wedding stunt courtesy of Gizmodo. Instead of a traditional flower girl, an S.F. bride commissioned her robot-crazed sister to build a flower-bearing bot instead! We're all nerds here, but unfortunately Jeff tells us that there will be no robots in attendance at his wedding in October 2010.
Next up, we have some very exciting news, albeit three years too late, about the "Arrested Development" movie starting to unfold. The movie starts production this year, and despite rumors about Michael Cera, the entire cast will reprise their roles in the movie. Can't wait!
If you were ever a fan of the Mega Man series, get ready for Mega Man 10! We take a special look at Mega Man's eight new enemies (with eight painfully uncreative names, like Sheep Man) in the downloadable title, available for all three platforms this March.EPISODE 498 Subscribe in iTunes audio | Suscribe to iTunes (video) | Subscribe in RSS Audio | Subscribe in RSS Video… Read more

Samsung has announced that its made-for-seniors Jitterbug J handset is now available in red in partnership with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement.

IBM is once again king of the patents.
For the 17th year in a row, Big Blue earned the most U.S. patents of any company in the world, grabbing 4,914 patents in 2009. Second place Samsung took home 3,611 patents, while Microsoft batted third with 2,906 patents.
Just one of the patents IBM earned for the year was given to Big Blue inventor John Gunnels for an invention to ensure that the internal communications network for the company's Blue Gene supercomputer is running properly.
With almost 5,000 under its belt for the year, IBM … Read more
LAS VEGAS--This week at CES, Samsung unveiled what they're calling the slimmest digital photo frame yet for displaying "high-quality" images, the Samsung 700Z Digital Photo Frame.
The frame has a foldable "L" stand design and an active matrix (AM) OLED panel. The device uses DLNA-licensed technology to sync with other home or mobile photo and video devices.
Samsung claims that at 9 inches long by 6 inches wide by 4.6 inches deep, the Samsung 700Z can also be used as a secondary home or office monitor by connecting it to a PC through a … Read more
I have to hand it to Samsung this year, because it really is throwing out some unique (if a little wacky) MP3 players. First, it showed off a MyFit MP3 player that includes metal skin probes to measure your body fat. Then there's the Ice Touch, with its transparent touch screen OLED display. And finally, the TicToc, an MP3 player for children that looks like a miniature lipstick tube designed by a team of fairy princesses.
Samsung is tight-lipped on price and availability, but we do know that the TicToc will come in 2GB and 4GB capacities, and in … Read more
LAS VEGAS--CES press conferences aren't always exciting, and Samsung' Mobile's event early Friday morning proved to be particularly underwhelming. Though the company normally buries us in phone announcements at technology trade shows, this year Sammy announced no new handsets in Las Vegas.
We started with a brief recap of the last year. Samsung managed to earn the biggest market share in the U.S. market, which is not surprising to us considering the range of its handsets that passed through our hands. Company execs also recapped current design and feature trends, like the TouchWiz interface, AMOLED displays, and … Read more
LAS VEGAS--We liked most of the Blu-ray home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems we reviewed in 2009, but the Samsung HT-BD1250 stood as the best, thanks to its excellent sound quality (for an HTIB, at least). Samsung has announced a new line of Blu-ray HTIBs at CES 2010, adding features like DLNA-compatibility, Samsung Apps, and Wi-Fi. Here are the details.
Key features of the Samsung HT-C6500:5.1 home theater system Built-in Blu-ray player Built-in Wi-Fi 1GB onboard storage Supports Internet@TV/Samsung Apps, which will provide content from Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, Blockbuster, Picasa, and Twitter Automatic speaker calibration No release date or … Read more
