Timed with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming to Verizon, Google has just published two new ads touting a few of Android Ice Cream Sandwich's slick features.
Both of the spots have been pushed out via YouTube, one cleverly showcasing Hangouts and the other ICE's facial security.
The most imaginative video highlights how Hangouts enables live video chat with up to 10 people at once using the Galaxy Nexus' front-facing camera. A gathering of "bohemians" sings along to Queen's classic ballad "Bohemian Rhapsody":
The other ad centers around a child's vain attempts to … Read more

Stop me if you've heard (and I'm sure that you have), but after months of waiting and a seemingly endless barrage of delays, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may be available for purchase later this week.
The latest gossip, which was obtained by Engadget, suggests that the initial release won't be directly from Verizon Wireless, but through retail outlet Costco.
According to a leaked document, the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered smartphone will be on sale come December 15 with a two-year service agreement and a price of $289.99. This is not the first time we've seen … Read more
week in review Verizon Wireless customers looking to snap up the Samsung Galaxy Nexus today will have to be a little more patient.
The carrier has been cagey about the launch date for the smartphone, which is the first to run on the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, but an informal survey of Verizon stores found that many had expected to start selling the phone on Friday. Now they are hearing that the release of the Galaxy Nexus will be delayed.
Verizon already faces some criticism for keeping the Google Wallet mobile-payment capability off the Galaxy Nexus. Verizon … Read more
On today's Most Epic Buzz Out Loud Episode Ever, we interview the founders of Skout.com and find out there's an easier way to find love and friendship all around you than the way you have to do it in Sweden. Also, how Verizon is trying to murder the Galaxy Nexus and Google is letting it. Visual voice mail company YouMail claims that T-Mobile USA had its application removed from Android Market, in what could be seen as the latest example of carrier influence over the mobile business.
YouMail CEO Alex Quilici said his application was pulled without notice. Android's support team sent him a note explaining that T-Mobile had requested the action because it felt the application was adversely affecting the network.
"We encourage you to contact T-Mobile to negotiate a revision and/or agreement to republish this application and update your existing users," the message read.
But Quilici said T-Mobile never … Read more
The iPhone 4S was the top selling smartphone at all three of its U.S. carriers last month, but Samsung kept nipping at Apple's heels, according to investment firm Canaccord Genuity.
All three models of the iPhones 4S (16GB, 32GB, and 64GB) grabbed strong sales and a higher market share in the U.S. last month, with a little help from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But so did Samsung's Galaxy S II.
Samsung's latest smartphone was the top seller at T-Mobile and the second best-selling smartphone at both AT&T and Sprint. The Galaxy S … Read more
The U.S. launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may have smacked face-first into a wall of delays, but that hasn't stopped me from spending the last three weeks smearing my thumbprints all over the unlocked version of the first phone to get Google's red-hot Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Now, between the phone and the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, there's a lot of minutiae, more than most people will really want to read regarding the scads of cosmetic and substantive changes to each function or app. As a result, I'm aiming for the broad view. In the three weeks since I got the phone, I've answered many of your ICS and Galaxy Nexus questions, tested the camera, stumbled onto a lot of hidden features, and explored Android Beam using another Galaxy Nexus phone (more on this below).
Using ICS on the Galaxy Nexus has been a positive experience, and as with many phones, the Galaxy Nexus grew on me even more. It has an open design and appealing shape, a comfortable "hyperskin" soft-touch back cover, and a great screen. ICS adds snappy graphics and a laundry list of new features.… Read more
