Many handset makers are planning Google Android phones, but thus far, only HTC has released devices in the United States. Samsung was the second company to offer an Android phone when it released the Galaxy I7500 overseas, but it remains uncertain if an American carrier will pick it up. New details, however, suggest that Samsung's second Android phone, the Galaxy Lite I5700, could make a run at a United States release.
The Galaxy Lite is the assumed cheaper version of the original Samsung Galaxy. Both the internal storage (1GB vs. 8GB) and the camera (3.2 megapixels vs. 5 … Read more
Verizon wasn't the only carrier to announce a Samsung phone on Tuesday. Sprint also broke the news that it had unveiled the Samsung M240 over the weekend. With a simple flip-phone design and not even a camera, the M240 focuses on communication rather than multimedia.
Inside you'll find speaker-independent voice dialing, text messaging, a speakerphone, a 500-contact phone book, Sprint's wireless backup service, a voice memo recorder, and basic personal organizer options. The M240 is $19.99 with service.
The day after Labor Day you can count on Samsung to kick off the holiday shopping season by announcing new cell phones for the U.S. market. This year, Verizon Wireless is the lucky carrier and the handsets are the Samsung Intensity and Rogue.
With slider designs and full alphabetic keyboards, the Intensity and Rogue are geared toward messaging. The Rogue, which resembles the Samsung Impression, is the more sophisticated of the two. It offers a 3.1-inch touch screen with Samsung's TouchWiz interface.
Features include a full Web browser; a 3-megapixel camera; messaging and e-mail; 3G (EV-DO) with … Read more

BERLIN--Those of you familiar with Android devices will appreciate the sweet, delicious irony in the photo above. Yes, there are indeed Heroes, and they're made by HTC. But they've got some competition because Samsung has an Android-powered phone now, and it's called the Galaxy i7500. We've been playing with one here at IFA.
With its all-glass capacitive touch screen and lush interface, sweeping through the Galaxy's menus was unlike anything we've experienced on a Samsung phone before. Its 3.2-inch AMOLED screen's colors are rich, its menus are responsive, and wrapped in the … Read more

There's been an alarming amount of chatter recently about laptop makers adding thin-but-expensive OLED displays to systems in the near future. At this week's IFA trade show in Germany, Tech Radar reports that Kyu Uhm, Head of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Samsung's Computing Division, told an audience, "Samsung is the largest OLED screen manufacturer. And as soon as it's available commercially for laptops we will adopt it." His best estimate was, "Probably sometime Q3 next year."
Add YouTube the growing list of streaming media services supported by Samsung Blu-ray players. Effective immediately, Google's megapopular online video site will be added to the Samsung's current 2009 (and future) Blu-ray players via a free firmware update. The update also adds support for playback of MKV files. (A placeholder button has been added for the previously announced Blockbuster video-on-demand service streaming service as well; it's still on track to be added later this year.)
We were able to run the automatic firmware update on our Samsung BD-P3600 review sample quickly and painlessly. The YouTube main menu (… Read more
I've been eagerly anticipating this LED-backlit monitor since I first laid eyes on it at CES last January. Since then, I've reviewed only two other LED monitors, the Dell G2410 and the ViewSonic VLED221wm. While the Dell performed well, neither of these monitors were able to really take advantage of LED technology to any great extent.
Both were fairly thick monitors, each with a relatively low max brightness. The XL2370, on the other hand is thin, light, has a high brightness and, let's just say it, is just plain gorgeous to look at.
I know, its looks … Read more
