NotebookReview pointed us to spec lists for the refreshed ThinkPad T61 and ThinkPad R61, both of which will be built on the platform formerly known as Santa Rosa. The announcement is limited to new configurations for the Asia Pacific region, but we don't think it much of a stretch to assume we'll see similar Centrino Pro ThinkPads in the States.

Intel filed a report late Monday night outlining how it plans to recover e-mail that it failed to preserve following the filing of Advanced Micro Devices' antitrust lawsuit against the company.

Last month, Intel said that a number of employees had failed to properly preserve e-mail related to AMD's allegations after some people forgot to save "sent" e-mail or assumed IT was backing up their folders. Market analysts say that Intel regained large chunks of market share from AMD in the first quarter. Analyst firm iSuppli says Intel's market share jumped from 75.7 percent in the fourth quarter to 80.2 percent in the first quarter. AMD, meanwhile, sank from 15.7 percent to 11.1 percent.

Ultramobile PCs, or UMPCs, such as the OQO model 02 or the Vulcan FlipStart, are pocket-sized computers that look cool but haven't been all that useful yet. Intel's been planning a new, more practical platform for ultramobile devices for a while now, and today the first official details about the new spec--dubbed McCaslin--were revealed.

Intel announced today the winners of its Intel Core Processor Challenge, a competition with a total of $1 million in prize money that encouraged computer manufacturers to use its Viiv processor technology to create a high-performance, media-savvy machine. The winners, well, aren't particularly earth-shattering.

You do have to keep in mind that these are legitimate working PCs, not trippy concept designs created under the influence of what-have-you.
