AT&T HTC Fuze reviewed; available now

Ever since Sprint got its HTC Touch Pro in early November, the rest of the cell phone community (non-Sprint users) has been getting a little antsy to find out when they might be able to get their hands on the Windows Mobile smartphone. Well, for AT&T subscribers, that day is today.

On Tuesday, the carrier officially took the wraps off the HTC Fuze, which is now on sale for $299.99 with a two-year contract and after a mail-in rebate. The Windows Mobile 6.1 device has many of the same great features as its CDMA cousin, but … Read more

In celebration of its 16th F1 Constructor's Championship, Ferarri is offering a 499 limited edition iPods. The catch is that if you want a 16GB Ferarri iPod Touch, you have to buy the Ferarri it comes in, the limited edition Scuderia Spider 16M.

The Scuderia Spider 16M is the first car with at personalized 16GB iPod Touch. These limited edition Ferrari iPods are packed with special content such as photos, videos, and Ferrari engine sounds. Seskimo Batrest fits in utility belt, defeats three evildoers in a single throw

Last week, I reported on how to make your own iPhone stand using a simple binder clip. I'm still a huge fan of all things free, but if you watch a lot of videos on your iPhone and suffer from a disease that forces you to spend money, get your stand from the folks at Seskimo.

Their foldable "Bat Rest" is roughly the same size as a credit card and is easily adjustable for different viewing angles. It's also very useful for disarming criminals if thrown with trained precision. It comes in three colors (black, white, and translucent) and only costs $3.99, which is pretty darn close to free. Heck, buy two from the Web site and they'll throw in shipping for free! And if for some reason you harbor prejudice against our bat-friends, Seskimo also makes a different stand shaped like a set of bullhorns.

More pictures after the jump, thanks to Barrier Bloor for the link.… Read more

LogMeIn to come to iPhone

UPDATED: Corrected LogMeIn spelling.

It's great to be able to log in your computer remotely. It's convenient, it saves gas, hassle, and most importantly, time. Personally I've used LogMeIn for a long time and loved it.

The company has actually been cooking up an application for the iPhone (and iPod Touch), too, called LogMeIn Ignition. I tried out the preview version of the app on my iPhone 3G and was impressed overall.

First off, it works! I was able to log in to any Windows machine where I have the Logmein client installed and view its desktop … Read more

Get all your notes on iPhone

Though intended as a complementary application to Evernote's multimedia note-syncing system, Evernote for iPhone fares well enough as a stand-alone application. You'll still need to register for a free or premium account, but after that, creating text, photo, and audio notes is a simple operation.

Evernote saves your media on its servers and then delivers all your uploaded notes to any access point, including the Evernote desktop manager, any Web browser, and now your iPhone or iPod Touch. Evernote's optical character recognition service is one selling point for all accounts. While tests found the OCR fairly accurate, … Read more

Peer inside the box

Musical curiosity is no dangerous thing with Pandora's iPhone app for music discovery, except that you'll soon be hooked. Take the Web radio engine's original concept of suggesting music by comparing the rhythms of a song you might like with one you already do and add to it a sleek interface, ratings icons, and quick links to bookmark the song or artist, or buy the track from iTunes. Add an explanation of why the bots picked your song to the ability to view the song progress, create a new station from a song or artist, and send … Read more

Buzz Out Loud 847: Don't stand behind the hologram

The U.S. Army prepares to test and deploy ghost soldiers in MMORPGS and possibly also the real world. They may be decoys, folks, but remember: they're still light-based projections that won't stop a bullet. Also, it appears Apple will finally activate over-the-air podcast downloads for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Which, yeah. Ya think? Geez. Listen now: Download today's podcast EPISODE 847

My favorite iPhone brainteasers

I'll admit that I'm more into puzzles and brain games than I am into, say, poker. Don't get me wrong. iPhone poker is cool, but the word game Wurdle is the one I can't put down as I nearly miss my bus stop.

In Wurdle ($1.99), you drag your finger in any direction over adjacent letters in a grid to form as many words as you can before time runs out. The grid size, word length, game duration, dictionary, and even tile color are all customizable. Wurdle keeps track of high scores and the longest … Read more

The 404 220: Where we finally endorse a candidate

Up until this point, The 404 has tried to remain nonpartisan (untrue), never officially endorsing a candidate, but that rule is chucked out the window on today's show. It's a big announcement that's literally no surprise to anyone, but we make it anyway. Lots of election talk today, mostly about free corporate-sponsored junk food you can get for voting. We also talk about GPS chastity belts, marital affair enablers, and the best position to take while docking your iPod Touch. Wilson, you dirty birdy, you.

I had every intention of forcing you to listen to today's show for our official political endorsement, but screw it, I'm going to do it right here and now. The pundits at The 404 have unanimously decided that Professor Charles Xavier is the best hope we have for our nation's successful future. His not-for-profit work with our world's gifted youngsters prove his social skills, his political prowess, and ultimately his potential to be an extraordinary leader in these desperate times. It's time for a change, and we completely believe that Charles Xavier's innate telepathic powers can grab us by the coattails and pull us our of our eight-year rut. Too long has Erik "Magneto" Lensherr been allowed to employ his Brotherhood of Mutants at the political expense of our fair country. We need a juggernaut in the oval office, and Professor X is our man.

The 404 is delighted to support Professor Xavier and also very pleased to see him choose Peter Nikolaievitch Rasputin as his Vice President. Peter, or "Colossus" as we've come to know him through the years, has proven his executive talent, toughness, and ability to knock through several layers of brick time and time again. The Prof X/Colossus team is an unstoppable one and we're excited to see what they can do in 2009. If you care about the welfare of this nation, please cast your vote for Charles Xavier and Colossus today.
