Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is holding an "ask me anything" session on Reddit at 10:45 a.m. today.

To get a few things out of the way, he's posted a YouTube animation that answers three popular Reddit questions: How much money do you have in your wallet? Can I have a million dollars? And -- now this is the important one -- would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses, or one horse-sized duck.

Gate's answers? $100; only if you are a starving farmer or a poor child living without medicine; and a horse-sized duck. Duh. … Read more

Bill Gates: My kids have never asked for Apple products

Kids can be ruthless, contrary human beings.

They see a parent's weakness and they go all "Twilight" on it.

Which is why you have to be firm with them. An example of this was Melinda Gates who declared quite forcefully in 2010 that, while her kids had asked to use Apple products, she had explained that this would be impolitic.

Yet now, in an interview with Fox Business Network, her husband Bill has placed a certain kink upon her tale.

"They never asked," he said. "So I don't know. It would be interesting … Read more

Devils at the Gate: Pacific War HD offers little skill or excitement

Devils at the Gate: Pacific War HD tries to be a defense game in which you battle the enemy to defend your turf. The problem is that there really is no skill or gameplay involved; you just tap where the game tells you to and it plays out while you watch.

To begin Devils at the Gate, you're first asked to enter your name. From there, it takes you to the main page where the Setting feature lets you adjust the music and sound effect noises -- you can also adjust them while playing the game. This is good … Read more

Artist creates stunning insects from old watch parts

Despite my small fear of bugs, there's just something creepily cute about these mechanical insects by Justin Gershenson-Gates.

Gates, a self-taught tinkerer, usually sells jewelry accented with watch gears on his Web site A Mechanical Mind, but people can't seem to get enough of his occasional arthropods made from watch parts, tiny lightbulbs, and other bits and bobs.

In an e-mail interview with Crave, Gates revealed the inspiration behind these creepy designs: a recent trip featuring a freak spider encounter -- "with a leg span of about 3 inches," he says -- prompted the idea. After returning from vacation, Gates created a set of spider legs with watch-winding stems and tacked on other watch parts to create his first spider. … Read more
