Grand Theft Auto V's highly anticipated multiplayer mode -- a persistent online world where players can form gangs, own their own property, and complete new heists -- doesn't open to the public until October 1. But developer Rockstar Games' own Web site, combined with firsthand accounts from those with early access to the game mode, has revealed that controversial microtransactions will play a part in Grand Theft Auto Online, reports Eurogamer.
The possibility of consoles topping PCs in graphical fidelity is nil, according to Nvidia.
Speaking to Australia's PC Power Play in an interview posted recently, Tony Tamasi, Nvidia senior vice president of content and technology, said that "it's no longer possible for a console to be a better or more capable graphics platform than a PC."
"Nvidia spends $1.5 billion per year on research and development in graphics, every year, and in the course of a console's lifecycle we'll spend over $10 billion into graphics research," Tamasi said. "Sony and … Read more
Angry Birds Star Wars II (iOS|Android) is a sequel that continues the "Star Wars" theme as you fling birds at evil pigs, but this time the game explores the prequel movies, with new birds like Jango Fett, a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even characters from the "Pork Side." Whether you're playing for good or evil, this installment has all the same mechanics as the rest of the games in the franchise, but instead of getting boring or repetitive, it still manages to be fun.
By now just about everyone has played or seen Angry … Read more

Game developer and digital distributor Valve has already seen massive success with its Steam portal -- so much so that it is wrapping that software up in its own Linux-based operating system, called SteamOS and designed for televisions. The goal: dethrone the home console kings in favor of a PC ecosystem.
"As we've been working on bringing Steam to the living room, we've come to the conclusion that the environment best suited to delivering value to customers is an operating system built around Steam itself," Valve says on its official SteamOS page. "SteamOS combines the … Read more
Video games can cost a fortune, but if you're just a little patient, sometimes an opportunity comes around to obtain hot titles for next to nothing. According to Amazon, the deal slices 75 percent off retail pricing, which translates to $59.98 in savings. If you're not interested in buying all three games and would rather buy only Bioshock and Bioshock 2, Amazon has the duo at only $4.99.… Read more
The studio did not cite the usual reason for an MMORPG's closure -- the lack of a fan base -- instead saying Mythic's license with Games Workshop was due to expire.
"We here at Mythic have built an amazing relationship working with Games Workshop, creating and running Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning over the last eight years," the announcement reads. "Unfortunately, as with all licensing deals, they do eventually come to end, and on December 18, 2013, we will no longer be operating Warhammer Online."
As such, the company will no longer be selling three-month game time codes or three-month subscriptions. … Read more

According to Eurogamer, Ito said that after a gamer buys a PlayStation 4 for $399, as long as they buy … Read more
Microsoft has a warning to gamers: don't turn the Xbox One on its side.
Speaking to CNET sister site GameSpot in an interview published Thursday, Microsoft's senior director of product management and planning at Xbox, Albert Panello, said that the $449 Xbox One should not be placed vertically because it has a slot-loading drive.
"We don't support vertical orientation; do it at your own risk," he said. "It wouldn't be a cooling problem, we just didn't design the drive for vertical. Because it's a slot loading drive, we just didn't … Read more
