CNET Live - Episode 8 - Show Notes

A perfect show! Well except for the whole thing going off the air halfway through. Apparently somebody kicked a cord and unplugged us. I think it was Brian's cat.

Watch the show

And we didn't have our mics on at the beginning of the show. Brian's cat again. Had our tongues.

But beyond that we had some great stuff!

Things we Crave

CNET Live: Great grad gadgets galore

June is a big month for the recognition of loved ones. First off, everyone takes time on the third Sunday this month to pay respects to the gizmo king of the house--it's Father's Day! Secondly, those poor kids have been toiling away all those years and have finally made it. It's time to give them a break, with the gift of gadgets (which is the only gift worth giving). In this week's edition of CNET Live, both Brian and Tom will be devoting a special segment of the program to the best gifts for grads and dads. … Read more

Software prevents cats from e-mailing

It's not quite as dangerous as butt dialing, but cat typing can have its scary moments, like when PayPal or your IM client are open and in front.

So I am intrigued by a software utility called Pawsense, which detects when a cat is walking on your keyboard and shuts down key input within a couple of strokes. OK, while the odds are astronomical, your cat could randomly walk-type a vile obscenity into a memo you're writing while you are up getting a cup of coffee. You come back to the computer, fail to proof the thing, send … Read more

I filled the set with Star Wars toys he purchased on eBay, while all Brian could muster was a James Bond doll. Meanwhile we answered your calls and touched on our usual features.

CNET Live: Put another shrimp on the barbie

Most weeks, callers get to grill Tom and Brian on their most difficult tech quandaries. This week, the tables get turned!

Okay, so the boys won't be barbequing or grilling loyal callers with their issues (the legal department was not too happy with that pitch). However--they will be taking a look at the latest and greatest in outdoor-entertaining gadgetry. What's the difference between infrared cooking and traditional flame cooking? Cooley is determined to find out.

Also this week, Tom gets out his box of Star Wars toys to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars films. Tom'… Read more

CNET Live - Episode 6

Had a great time on CNET Live even when the spirits of evil grabbed Cooley's website of the week and twisted it until dead. Great thanks to Ashwin Navin, President of BitTorrent for coming on the show. Here are some helpful links to go along with what we discussed.

BitTorrent to fire up CNET Live

In the Internet world, peer-to-peer sharing has always sparked discussion. This week on CNET Live, Ashwin Navin, president and co-founder of file-sharing site BitTorrent, will sound off on the hot topic. Navin contributed his perspective earlier this month about Ohio University's decision to ban peer-to-peer applications on campus. What does this mean for the rest of us? Tom Merritt is going to find out.

In addition to that fiery topic, the boys are going to figure out what is behind all those blazing batteries in laptops. Brian will reveal what tops his Crave list, and Tom is going to … Read more

Here are the links to go along with the crazy episode five of CNET Live. Right before today's episode started the following things broke:

We got everything back together in time to do the show. Except my brain. In any case, here are the show notes for Ep. 5.

Molly Wood is back in the house!

On this weeks Mother's Day special edition of CNET Live, Brian and Tom talk to one of their favorite new moms--Molly Wood.

Molly will be in house this week to talk about her favorite tech that makes being a new mom just a little bit easier. From her high tech baby monitor, to a digital keychain, Little Eli is practically a Cylon baby!

Today, CNET Live will also take a closer look at Intel's new Santa Rosa technology, and try to locate where the Santa Rosa river is (aren't all Intel products named after rivers?) Plus, Brian … Read more
