Regular readers of this blog may have noticed I'm not a big fan of any type of wireless speaker, and more specifically I have no love for Bluetooth or AirPlay speakers. For me the sound compromises that come with compact size and wireless technology are hard to swallow. I have less of a grudge against the smaller, under-$200 models; they produce "good enough" sound, but the more expensive models' sound pales next to a pair of wired Adam Audio, Audioengine, or Emotiva self-powered speakers.

During a press conference in Japan, Sony has announced the release date and price of the Sony PlayStation 4 in Japan. It will start selling on February 22, and go for 39,980 yen (US$400), or 43,980 yen (US$441) with the camera accessory.
This is three months after the US release date of November 15, and November 29 for parts of Europe, including the UK. According to Sony, the February release date makes sure that there's time for US titles to be localized for the Japan market at launch, and dedicated Japanese titles, too.

Well, it's been about a year and it's safe to say this: we can finally stop talking about the iPhone 5S and 5C rumors on Rumor Has It.
That is, until we talk about all the things we thought we were getting but didn't get.
But I digress. Just this week, Apple sent invites for its event on Tuesday, so I took a moment to recap all the rumors about the phone(s) so far.
Also this week, the PlayStation 4 might also include voice recognition, using the PlayStation Eye camera. Sweet, now everyone can yell at the TV and have it actually do something.
For those eager to get their grubby mitts on Sony or Microsoft's newest, next-gen consoles the very second they're available, Best Buy is opening a little earlier than usual.
The retailer on Wednesday announced plans to run a midnight release event for Microsoft's Xbox One console, which earlier today got a November 22 release date. That sale joins another, announced late last month, for Sony's PlayStation 4, which goes on sale November 15.
It's not unusual for Best Buy to run a midnight sale for big game releases, though major, next-generation console runs happen less … Read more
Sony's PlayStation 4 will support as many as four controllers at the same time, less than the number supported by the PS3 and Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One.
The four-controller limit was confirmed on Wednesday in a tweet by Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment. In contrast, the PS3 supports up to seven controllers, while Microsoft's Xbox One will support up to eight, allowing for more people to join in on a single game. The current Xbox 360 can manage up to four controllers.
Hardware support isn't the only factor here. Games also … Read more
Upgrading from an older, slower, not nearly as good-looking Android device to a newer, faster, better-looking Moto X isn't a bad decision. Often the only drawback to changing devices is the process of transferring important information such as text messages and call logs to the new device.
Fortunately for Moto X owners who are coming from another Android device, the process is as simple as downloading an app and tapping on a couple of buttons.
To begin migrating your data to the Moto X, you'll first need to install Motorola's Migrate on your old device. It's … Read more
