Alleged iPad Mini screen, battery leaked in photos

No, it's not a complete version of Apple's much-rumored iPad mini, but it could be a few more pieces of the puzzle.

Parts reseller ETradeSupply, which posted accurate photos and videos of Apple's iPhone 5 casing some three months before its official debut, today has images of what it says is the 8-inch LCD screen for Apple's smaller iPad, as well as its battery.

Which gadget would you buy for $300?

In the past week, CNET has reviewed three separate media devices, each costing $300, and one of them was a television. And guess what: the TV wasn't terrible.

The iPad Mini has yet to be officially announced, but it's kind of the worst-kept secret in tech right now. There's a very good chance it'll be revealed later this month (although what its final name will be remains to be seen) and even if you've no plans to purchase it, you'll likely want to know what it has to offer anyway.

The Mini is rumored to sport a 7.85-inch screen at a price of at least $299. But when and if it debuts, it will not enter a vacuous 7-inch tablet market. Survey: iPhone, iPad ownership surging among teenagers

The surging popularity of iPhones globally is especially pronounced among teenagers, according to a survey published today.

A semi-annual study of 7,700 teens conducted by analysis firm Piper Jaffray found that 40 percent of teens own an iPhone -- almost double the 23 percent of teens who owned an iPhone in Fall 2011. And that's up 6 percent since the spring, the survey found.

We take for granted that Steve Jobs was ahead of his time. A new recording from 1983 suggests just how far ahead he was.

Blogger Marcel Brown posted audio to his Life, Liberty and Technology site today of Steve Jobs' full speech from the International Design Conference in Aspen, Colo. Though the main portion of this talk had surfaced in August, the new recording contains an extended Q&A featuring Jobs' thoughts on networking, voice recognition, and even "an incredibly great computer in a book that you can carry around with you" that sounds a lot like the iPad that Apple would release 27 years later.… Read more
