Crave giveaway: iLuv App Station

For this week's giveaway we've offering up iLuv's popular iMM190 App Station, an "app driven rotational dock" designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch (not included). This unit is actually portable--it takes 6 AA batteries--so you can take it with you, but most people will want to just leave it on the nightstand at home, plugged in via the AC adapter. After downloading iLuv's Alarm Clock app, you're looking at a full-featured clock radio, and you can rotate your Apple device vertically or horizontally for viewing videos.

Normally, the iLuv iMM190 would cost … Read more

Tuff-Luv unveils chic Napa iPad case

When the iPad was first announced, a lot of accessory makers quickly revealed cases within hours of the launch. Not surprisingly, most of the cases were simply Amazon Kindle DX or Netbook cases masquerading as iPad cases, which is all well and good, but we're now seeing more stuff that was designed from the ground up for the iPad.

Case in point: Tuff-Luv's leather Napa iPad case, which is due to hit Amazon in mid-April with a $49.99 price tag (it comes in multiple colors). We're not sure what protective case will work best for the … Read more

Gorgeous amplifiers, made in Utah

For over 10 years ElectronLuv has been producing custom amplifiers and high-end components.

I think they're awesome-looking things, and I love that they're built to order. In a way ElectronLuv's design ethos reminds me of the "American Chopper" TV series where they custom build high-end motorcycles to order. But in this case it's stereo pre- and power amplifiers, guitar amplifiers, turntables, and horn speakers designed to meet ElectronLuv's customers' desires.

Some might call it steampunk or retro chic, but I think ElectronLuv products are unique and represent the best of American high-end audio.

ElectronLuv's Josh Stippich needs three to six months to design and build each of his one-of-a-kind products. In the early design stages Stippich sends his customers drawings to get feedback so he can give them exactly what they want. … Read more

iLuv USB charger juices up 3 gadgets at once

As owners of the iPhone are wont to (correctly) point out, their uber-handheld obviates the need to carry a separate phone, media player, and game device. But there are plenty of us who still need to tote an employer-issued BlackBerry, prefer a plain old iPod, or just can't bear a coast-to-coast flight without a DS or PSP. For that multidevice crowd, the new iLuv iAD117 USB wall charger is an inviting choice. It crowds three USB charging ports into one compact wall wart, and offers foldable power prongs for easy travel.

The triple-ported iAD117 beats similar offerings from Belkin … Read more

An iLuv for all Apple audio devices

I've always been reluctant to buy accessories for my iPhone 3G. This is because most of them are designed for a specific model of the phone (or the iPod) and would be useless when I move on to another. However, now there's something that will fit almost all Apple's handheld products.

On Wednesday, iPhone and iPod accessories maker iLuv unveiled its newest audio solution, the iMM9400. This product belongs to the company's next generation of Vertical CD/MP3 accessories for the home environment.

The iMM9400 is sleek and modern. What I like the most about it, … Read more

Apple remote control for third-party headphones

Update: The following post has been updated with pricing and corrected to reflect the fact that the adapter does not promise compatibility with Apple's iPhone.

For those who can't wait for headphone manufacturers to incorporate iPod remote control units, help is on hand with the iLuv iEA15 adapter.

The iEA15 is an in-line remote that's compatible with recent iPod models, including the third-generation iPod Shuffle, and doesn't have any physical buttons on the unit. The in-line remote supports the VoiceOver feature found on the Shuffle, as well, but what makes this interesting is that it lets … Read more

An iPhone headset for ear exhibitionists

Two new iPhone 3GS-compatible headsets from iLuv are poised to go on sale in August. The iLuv iEP515 ($59, shown above) and iLuv iEP315 ($29) both include in-line microphones, a remote clicker, and volume controls that will work with the latest crop of iPods and the iPhone 3GS. There's still no volume remote compatibility on older iPhone and iPod models, but iLuv also sells a similar set of earphones without the remote.

Aside from cosmetic differences, it's unclear what specific technical advantages distinguish one pair from the other. We do know that both models are built around a … Read more

iLuv's bed-shaking iPod clock radio

Heavy sleepers rejoice. iLuv will soon be shipping an iPod clock radio that features not only dual-audio alarms but a "unique" vibrating bed shaking accessory that it claims will "wake even the deepest of sleepers."

The official name of the product is the iLuv iMM153 Desktop Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker for iPod. It comes in four colors (black, blue, white, and pink) and will be shipping in July with an MSRP of $59.99. (More info here).

Personally, I'm waiting for the Desktop Dual Alarm Clock with Cattle Prod, but I guess this … Read more

iLuv rolls out accessories for the iPhone 3G S

It sure doesn't take these third-party add-on makers long to slingshot off the momentum of a new iPhone announcement. The latest company to step up to the plate is iLuv, which just announced the immediate availability of a new accessory line designed specifically for the iPhone 3G S. The selection is made up almost exclusively of cases, with one car accessory thrown in for good measure. Check out the gallery for pricing and details.

Gallery: iLuv announces affordable iPod accessories for 2009

Rarely do technology product titles or company names give me warm, fuzzy feelings, but there's something about iLuv that makes me smile. The accessories-maker's moniker is just so...optimistic. Also pleasing is the company's latest line of iPod-friendly extras, none of which costs more than $29.99. What can I say? I'm a sucker for colorful MP3 player trimmings that won't break the bank. But rather than drone on about the specs here, I've thrown together a gallery so you can take a closer look.
