Turns out Madden NFL 25 isn't free, but freemium: unless you're willing to pony up for in-game cash (by way of in-app purchases, or IAP), you'll have a limited playbook for solo games and almost no chance of winning multiplayer matches against better-equipped players.… Read more
Peter Moore, chief operating officer of Electronic Arts, took to his company's blog on Tuesday to clarify a statement he made last week at Gamescom in Germany suggesting all EA titles would require an online connection.
"Many, if not most, of our games include single-player, offline modes that you can play entirely without an Internet connection, if you so choose," Moore wrote on the blog. "We know that's something many of our players want, and we will continue to deliver it."
Speaking at Gamescom last week, Moore said that EA "no longer makes '… Read more
Need something fun to do this weekend? Electronic Arts' Humble Bundle just got even sweeter with the addition of two extra games.
In case you missed it, Electronic Arts has been offering a collection of 8 great computer video games for a little over $5 (or more, if you're feeling generous), with all proceeds going to charity. Now the number of games is up to 10.

Electronic Arts is launching a new initiative for gamers to get back money on titles they don't like.
The big-time game publisher has launched what it calls the Origin Great Game Guarantee. The offer allows gamers to receive a full refund on full-game downloads to PCs or Macs through its digital-delivery service, Origin.
"If something doesn't work out -- you aren't riveted by the storyline, or sucked in by the action, or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card -- we've got your back," EA wrote in a … Read more
Gamers have a big opportunity through August 28. The Humble Origin Bundle lets you grab up to eight top-tier Electronic Arts games -- including Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 3, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, and The Sims 3 Starter Pack -- at whatever price you want (starting at $1). A great bonus? All proceeds go to charity.
One fact worth noting: To access popular games such as Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3, donors will need to contribute at least $4.65, which is a moving average of all contributions (that number may change as donations fluctuate). Regardless, that's a heck of a deal for either game, and especially the bundle itself, which would cost about $215 if purchased altogether.… Read more
For the first time ever, brick-and-mortar retailers are not the main source of Electronic Arts' revenue.
Speaking from a prepared statement Tuesday during the company's earnings call, EA COO Peter Moore said that "Apple was EA's biggest retail partner measured by sales."
Moore didn't say exactly how much EA earned from its iOS titles, but the company generated $90 million in smartphone and tablet revenue last quarter. Overall digital revenue hit $378 million, and the company's total revenue reached $495 million.
If nothing else, Moore's announcement was surprising. Electronic Arts, as one of … Read more

Nintendo's Wii U is in developer crosshairs after a less-than-stellar start.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz in an interview published on Monday, Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore confirmed that his company -- one of the largest in the gaming industry -- has no games currently in development for the Wii U.
"We were there with four games for them [at launch]," he said in the interview. "It's been a disappointment when you look at sell-through and, as a company, we have to be very judicious where we deploy our resources."

LOS ANGELES -- To Electronic Arts, Nintendo's Wii U console plays second fiddle to some of the faster-growing areas in the video game business.
That includes the other next-generation consoles, Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4, as well as the current-generation systems and mobile devices, according to Frank Gibeau, head of labels at EA.
"I think it's fair to characterize that Xbox One, PS4, and mobile are the highest growth platforms that we're looking at right now," Gibeau said in an interview with CNET on Monday.
EA would rather invest in those … Read more
