CNET Live: Put another shrimp on the barbie

Most weeks, callers get to grill Tom and Brian on their most difficult tech quandaries. This week, the tables get turned!

Tom's box of Star Wars goodies

Okay, so the boys won't be barbequing or grilling loyal callers with their issues (the legal department was not too happy with that pitch). However--they will be taking a look at the latest and greatest in outdoor-entertaining gadgetry. What's the difference between infrared cooking and traditional flame cooking? Cooley is determined to find out.

Also this week, Tom gets out his box of Star Wars toys to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars films. Tom's Crave of the week will be something that any Wookie, Ewok, or citizen of Naboo would desire.

In addition, CNET's own tech-Jedis will be fielding phone calls at 888-900-CNET. Make sure to call 20 minutes ahead--you could be the first caller in the seventh installment of CNET Live!

Tune in to CNET TV at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET today to get your fix. May the force be with you!

BitTorrent to fire up CNET Live

by Neha Tiwari
In the Internet world, peer-to-peer sharing has always sparked discussion. This week on CNET Live, Ashwin Navin, president and co-founder of file-sharing site BitTorrent, will sound off on the hot topic. Navin contributed his perspective earlier this month about Ohio University's decision to ban peer-to-peer applications on campus. What does this mean for the rest of us? Tom Merritt is going to find out.

In addition to that fiery topic, the boys are going to figure out what is behind all those blazing batteries in laptops. Brian will reveal what tops his Crave list, and Tom is going to talk about a product that is essential for any germophobe--and he's not talking hand sanitizer.

As usual, The guys will be answering a firestorm of phone calls. The lines at 888-900-CNET will be open 20 minutes before show time, so call in soon to be Tom and Brian's first caller.

Tune in this week to get answers to all your burning tech queries at 1 p.m. Pacific/4 p.m. Eastern on CNET TV. Make sure not to miss an edition of CNET Live that may be too hot to handle!

  • My brain (see call about graphics cards)

We got everything back together in time to do the show. Except my brain. In any case, here are the show notes for Ep. 5.

Molly Wood is back in the house!

Eli is too cool for school!

On this weeks Mother's Day special edition of CNET Live, Brian and Tom talk to one of their favorite new moms--Molly Wood.

Molly will be in house this week to talk about her favorite tech that makes being a new mom just a little bit easier. From her high tech baby monitor, to a digital keychain, Little Eli is practically a Cylon baby!

Today, CNET Live will also take a closer look at Intel's new Santa Rosa technology, and try to locate where the Santa Rosa river is (aren't all Intel products named after rivers?) Plus, Brian gets in touch with his inner deejay with his Crave pick of the week.

And, as always, Brian and Tom will be taking calls from you--the audience--at 888-900-CNET. So tune inthis pre-Mother's Day Thursday at 1 PM Pacific, and 4 PM Eastern for a fresh new episode. Mother Cooley and Merritt would be mighty happy if you did!

Hosts Tom Merritt and Brian Cooley have struck gold with their new Live streaming program on CNET TV. With a hot live guest every week and an opportunity for viewers to call in to get their personal tech queries answered, it's the best thing to do on a Thursday afternoon...since afternoon cartoons!

Past guests include Justin Kan of JustinTV and James Kao at Green Citizen, who shed some wisdom on earth-friendly tech. Last week, Biz Stone from Twitter.com joined CNET Live to talk about the future of mini-blogging. Tom and Brian also took a number of calls, many having to do with iTunes, Apple, and the best new version of Linux. Tom craved a mini-lightsaber, a perfect addition to his newly acquired box of Star Wars toys.

This week's show features CEO and President of Kyte TV, Daniel Graf (read CNET's Webware review). Not only is Brian going to chat with him about the burgeoning new instant video blog, but he's also going to get a live demo. Later in the show, Brian will reveal his pick for this week's Best of the Web, while Tom is going to talk to Zach Wilson, the winner of the Cellflix Festival Video Contest. And as always, Tom and Brian will be putting on their thinking caps to answer questions from CNET Live viewers. Want to talk to the Cooley-Merritt super duo directly? Call 1-888-900-CNET today during the show!

If that's not enough, there will also be a First Look at the new Xbox 360 Elite. Is it back in black and worth the cash or totally overrated? Find out on this week's edition of CNET Live today, at 1 p.m. Pacific/ 4 p.m. Eastern on CNET TV.

CNET Live show No. 2!

by Mark Larkin

We are just a few short hours away from CNET Live show No. 2!

The theme today is Earth Day, so we'll be talking to a recycling expert, showing you hybrid car videos, and talking about being technologically green. Plus, we'll be taking your calls on anything and everything tech!

Don't miss your chance to call in to ask Brian or Tom a question about all things tech--or just sit back and watch them answer other people's questions. Maybe the other people have the same issues you do--or, maybe they have an issue you didn't even know you had! Hey, it's live...anything can happen.
