50 Cent comes to the CNET stage Video Transcript
-Alright everybody welcome to CES 2011, who do we have in the house? 50 Cent, make some noise baby. Alright, so 50, I heard this is your first CES, is that correct? -Yeah, I'm excited about being here, you know, I came to unveil the Sleek by 50 Cent brand of headphones, it's a wireless hybrid headphones and you know-- it's been over a year and a half, I've been working on this actual project. I met Jason and Marc Andreyko and Marc works in hearing aid field for 35 years; so, he understands how the human ears register sound-- -Yeah. -and the kind of what went in acoustic engineer as they called, you know that, I wanted to be associated with it. -Now, probably like the first thing that someone says like oh, oh 50 sleek audio, Dr. Dre and Beats. That's a lot-- you know everyone's gonna think about that. -You just said it backwards. It's Beats by Dre. -Beats by Dre -Sleek by 50. -Sorry. -You know. -Keep it right, keep it right. -And you know, I know those comparisons will happen right away; so, you know having-- you know, a wireless hybrid headphones that doesn't actually exist within the beach line was you know my first thought. And then Dre's-- I mean I love him. -Yeah. -You know he's like-- he's someone who work with me throughout my entire career, my entire successful career; because there were a few years where I was doing it and nobody was paying attention. But I'm not angry. I'm not angry. As you know, Dre and Jimmy Iovine, both are people that you know I credit to my success in music and portions of it of course I have divided in performing -Yeah. -You know, but you know, I think that this room for 50 Cent and Dr. Dre the way. There's a Gaga beats and Diddy Beats and Bieber Beats, and-- -You like those don't you? -everybody else is now there. -You like the Bieber Beats. -Yeah, yeah, you know. Listen, you could say things about artist because you just state your opinion on some levels, but you don't dare say anything about Bieber. Do you understand? His fans will not understand your apology and they have such passion that they will-- they will know-- they will-- they're burning desire will happen within them -Even with Bieber. -Yeah. -The B inside. -You go and get some. -Now you partnered, you know you've done a lot of business obviously everyone knows about vitamin water. -Right. -I don't know if you guys have heard of the magic stick condoms. -Yeah, well you know-- you know most condom companies make more money selling party balloons. Meaning maybe you should wrap it up more. But, you know, you know I explored the-- you know the idea of doing that and being part of a bigger more successful safe sex campaign. I think wrap it up has been heard so often and it's no longer effective. -So what would be like the new slogan you think then? -Oh man, you know just associating it to music that has sexual content in it makes the person just enjoying themselves more conscious of it. -Okay, okay. So now, also this is your first CES, you know, did you get walk the floor and see much? Or you are just bouncing around doing interview? -You know, I did get a chance to see some things, not everything, but you know when I was coming through I just see thing. I have this massage chair and she is my girlfriend. The massage chair is my girl. She's a perfect girlfriend. She never complains. She never says I'm tired. I let's-- can we just-- just come back tomorrow. You know, so, I have a lot of fun with it and I just thought like in a middle of all of the commotions, like 15 people sleep in this little massage chair; so, I said maybe I get one of those. -Yeah, you-- well we've walk for miles, right? You've seen how big these halls are? -Yeah. -Everybody here, I'm sure your legs are tired, just standing up over there right? So, they're like no, so this massage chair is good. Now, also, are you-- what do you feel about this whole 3D thing, right? The whole technology, do you like it? You do not like it? -Actually. -What is your thought for that? -I think it's exciting. You know and I've invest in a company called [unk] that didn't actually do well. [unk] went away and then I'm also invested in [unk] optical, this is here in CES now and they create a lenses that will protect your eyes from looking at digital screens too long and also lenses that protect your eyes from watching 3D televisions and 3D video games are designed with those features in it that would actually damage our eyes over time. So, you don't wanna strain your eyes or damage your eye sight. You don't want that to be the price of you enjoying yourself for short period of time. -Yeah, there's a lot of people here who were coming to Vegas for CES, who come to Vegas for other things, but what is it like when 50 is here? -They came for the AVN awards. I know, I know what you did. -So what is it like when you-- what is like when come out to Vegas, I mean we don't live in your world, but what do you do when you're in Vegas and you can tell us as much as you want. -It's been exciting. You know, I stayed in a really nice hotel, I sleep in the suites I will usually stay in to make myself comfortable; and you know, I go out. I've been gambling. You know-- -Are you up or down? -I'm up. I actually had the money right here. -oh here we go. You got more than 50 cents in your pocket, right? -How did you know? -I'm doing good. I don't know about you, but I'm doing good. -You know what; it's like making rain over the corner so you can collect all there. Alright, back to your headphones, I mean what do you like about the most? I mean I see a lot of the carbon fiber design, pretty sleek, a little flashy too. -Yeah, that was actually my input and you know with Jason provide an opportunities and options for me to decide what I wanted to do with it. I've decided to use the carbon fiber and even down to the logo, they ask-- you know I designed it myself. -And you know what, we all saw you coming in, I mean you have quite, quite a large entourage. -Yeah, yeah, pretty large. I mean it's ready to protect the general public from the general public. You know because if people get excited they run and they slipped and fall, they sue me. I don't understand why this happens right? We need laws to prevent people from suing people because the legal fees start to add up and you know, I sit those oppositions for no reason. They said I did it, I didn't do it. -Now music wise, when you [unk]. Now music wise, working on album right now? -Yes, I'm working on my album, it should be done and actually out this summer. -Okay, okay, excellent. Now, I know you have a lot of kinda catchy titles with your albums, so, you know you're here at CES and there's a lot of technology right? -Yes. -So, could I like, you know I'm an idea guy too, could I throw you an idea for your next album name? -Yeah, yeah, let me see what you've got, let me see what you've got. -Tech-knowledge-geez. -jed, jed, jee. -Tech-knowledge-geez. -Geez. You don't have to put me on the cover; I'm just throwing it out there, in case you wanna think about it. -I'm gonna say I'm gonna think about that. -Okay. Thank you so much 50, everybody give him a round of applause. Thanks for coming up to the CNET booth, we appreciate it. Great stuff, alright. Alright thanks man.
