Ep. 143: The Sit On It Episode
This week's episode is inspired by Natali's incredibly appropriate (if not unintended) comment from last week's episode. Really, if you haven't heard it, check it out. Then listen to today's show where we discuss a wide array of chairs on which to sit. That's right, chairs are the "it". Why, what were you thinking?
The 404 446: Where the cheese stands alone
Even though I definitely messed up the title format and everything else for that matter, today's show is still "Where the cheese stands alone," because you get to witness the pain as I try to record a SOLO podcast. That's right, Jeff is out and Wilson called in sick, so I'm left to fend for myself with the generous help of a few friends along the way.
Based upon the celebrated novel "La Bestia nel Cuore," "Don't Tell" is the mesmerizing story of a woman?s journey into her past and the aftermath of confronting personal demons long hidden beneath the surface of her psyche. At the heart of the film is Sabina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), a beautiful young woman who seemingly has it all -- a supportive and loving boyfriend, a comfortable lifestyle, and a promising future. But when Sabina learns she is pregnant, a normally celebratory occasion is clouded by a succession of haunting nightmares, strange memories, and personal insecurities that send Sabina?s world spiraling out of control. While shunning the affections of her boyfriend Franco (Alessio Boni), Sabina flees to America where she seeks comfort from her brother Daniele (Luigi Lo Cascio) and his family. In the arms of her loved ones, Sabina uncovers truths so dark and disturbing that she begins to question her own instincts about life, love, and her future happiness, leading to an intense psychological climax that finds Sabina at a crossroads of redemption or destruction. Directed and co-written by Cristina Comencini, "Don't Tell" is adapted from her bestselling novel "La Bestia Nel Cuore." The film stars Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Alessio Boni, Stefania Rocca, Angela Finocchiaro, Giuseppe Battiston and Luigi Lo Cascio.

Ep. 481: Where we finally get our hands on that Nook
Believe it or not, the fourth host on today's episode of CNET's The 404 Podcast is the Nook, Barnes & Noble's e-book reader with a color touch screen and Wi-Fi. The device is currently sold out and on back order throughout B&N, so it wasn't easy to obtain. We had to walk 500 miles and battle a Nazgul to get it, but the in-studio demo was worth the wait. If you haven't seen a Nook up close, you're in for a treat.
Little Red Riding Hood: A classic story, but there's more to every tale than meets the eye. Before you judge a book by its cover, you've got to flip through the pages. For this story, we begin at the end. Furry and feathered cops from the animal world investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage, involving a girl, a wolf, and an axe. The charges are many: breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, intent to eat, and wielding an axe without a license. Not to mention, this case might be tied to the elusive "Goody Bandit" who has been stealing the recipes of goody shops everywhere.
Ray Charles: "Ray Sings, Basie Swings"
Uncover never before released Ray Charles recordings combined with new performances of the legendary Count Basie Orchestra featured on Ray Sings, Basie Swings CD in stores October 3rd. I am proud to offer copies of the CD available for review and giveaway as well as audio streams and other assets (album cover, press release, and bio). Concord Records and Starbucks Hear Music, the two Companies that co-released Genius Loves Company, announced today that they will partner again to co-release and co-market Ray Sings, Basie Swings, which marries archival, never-before-released Ray Charles recordings with brand-new performances by the Count Basie Orchestra. A painstaking labor of love that combines cutting-edge technology and musical ingenuity, Ray Sings, Basie Swings due out October 3rd, 2006 at Starbucks Company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada and at traditional music retail, showcases the late artist at his dazzling peak. Although Ray Charles and Count Basie shared the same bill during their careers, Ray Sings, Basie Swings marks the first and only recordings in which the ?Genius? is backed by the legendary bandleader?s orchestra. John Burk, Concord Records? A&R chief and producer of Ray Charles? 2004 multiple GRAMMY? Award-winning blockbuster album Genius Loves Company, came upon the lost tapes simply marked ?Ray / Basie,? in late 2005 while surveying the label?s vaults in Berkeley, CA. While documentation about the original recordings is scarce, the archival reels that served as source material for Ray Sings, Basie Swings were apparently concert tapes made in the 1970s by legendary impresario-producer Norman Granz. Ray Sings, Basie Swings gives listeners the unprecedented experience of hearing Ray Charles at the height of his powers with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra.
