Ah, yes. The Subie WRX, a favorite of real drivers everywhere. But for a long time now, it's been uncomfortably close to its plain Vanilla Impreza sibling, if you will. Not anymore. Notice the car is longer, roomier, kind of a sportier look, little more macho look. Big difference in the way that they slope the A pillar, as well. Under the hood, 268 horsepower of a direct-injected turbo, four sonar flat box or engine of 2 liters displacement, 6-speed manual gearbox is your base. But they're also offering a CVT, a continuously variable transmission. It's some kind of a bad joke, I think. It's all-wheel drive, of course. That's what Subie does. But they've also done an all-new torque vectoring arrangement in there, and a higher-ratio variable steering. So, that's really gonna let you tuck it in there with the least amount of steering wheel movement. Now, of course, this is still based on an Impreza platform. But I'll say this, they've gotten rid of the five- door. No more hatchback. Infotainment's never been this guy's strong point, but they do have a nav head unit by Harman/Kardon with the Aha app suite in there. We'll see how that works. But I don't go with these guys for cabin tech innovation. This and the BRZ are turning out to be a nice little halo couplet for the bread-and-butter cars, which of course, are your traditional sort of Subarus that are rugged, great in rough conditions, and a good value.
