2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible Video Transcript
What's up, guys? This is Antoine Goodwin with cnet.com. We're on the floor at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland. We're taking a look at-- well, yet another Corvette. Well, this one is different because as you can tell, it's a convertible. That means, from the waist down, it's pretty much the same Corvette that we saw revealed earlier this year, 6.2-liter V8, 450 horsepower, 450 pound-feet of torque, lots of carbon fiber, and pretty much all of the racing technology that GM can throw at this car. But from the wait up, you get a retractable fabric soft top as you can actually drop at speed up to 30 miles per hour. That soft top uses three layers of fabric so you've got some sort of noise cancellation going on there. And the glass for your windows, you don't have to worry about it getting all fogged up. Inside of the Corvette, you've got pretty much the same interior with the new instrument cluster that's all LED. But, you've also got a double hump tonneau cover that's gonna cover up that soft top when it's not in use; and a body-colored waterfall sort of thing that's going on. It's a styling element that flows between the two seats and just kinda adds a little bit of color to the cabin. GM says that didn't actually have to add any sort of chassis bracing to this vehicle to straighten up the Corvette and that pretty much lets us know that it was designed from the ground up to be a drop top, and that also lets us know that this vehicle's got pretty much the same power ratio as the hardtop Coupe. Now, which one you like better, it's gonna be a matter of styling; but personally, I kinda like the funky look of the Coupe better. But people who kind of balk to that sort of weird black [unk] are probably gonna like the styling of this one because it's a little bit more conventional to the previous generation Corvette. We don't actually have any word as to when it's gonna go on sale but with the next generation Corvette Coupe going on sale very soon, we should expect this to be on the market shortly thereafter. This has been Antoine Goodwin with Cnet.com on the floor at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, taking a look at the new Corvette Stingray Convertible.
