Let's face it, the Fiat 500's been off to a slow start in the US, and Fiat knows it. The marketing has been, shall we say, underwhelming, but this new 500 variant, the L, is intended to give the company more than one model to talk about; from some angles, you'd be forgiven for thinking we grabbed footage of some new mini countryman by mistake. It's 2 feet longer than a 500, half a foot wider, and two doors busier; but for now, it looks like it might get the same barely-enough 1.4-liter engine found in the shorter, lighter version, that's a little disturbing. It goes to Europe first where they love 500s at late 2012, and then to the US where we don't yet top-off 2013; let's hope it gets the Abarth version's turbo motor all the way.
