2013 BMW X1 Video Transcript

This is the 2013 BMW X1. This is the small SUV that BMW has sold in Europe for the last couple of year, and is finally bringing to the US. That's why they have it here at the New York International Auto Show. Let's take a look at what makes this car different from BMW's larger SUVs. The X1 isn't very tall. I'm 5 foot 8, and it's just kinda comes up to chin. So, that's make it sort of a hatchback or SUV. You really could take your pick with this car. It's not much bigger than a lot of hatchbacks that are on the road. Yeah, we come back here and take a look under the rear hatch. We can see, it's got a decent amount of cargo area. There's of course a room for 5 in the cab and then, this cargo area goes in decently deep but it gets kinda narrow at the top, so that's gonna limit how much you can really carry in here, and also, there's sort of a hidden area underneath the back here, and you can put cigarettes, about tools, or whatever kind of stuff you wanna keep in the car, all the time under here, as longs as it's pretty flat. All of BMW's technologies become pretty standard across their lines. So, the X1 has the same sort of Navigation System and Cabin-Tech features we've seen in other BMWs. In this particular model, is the BMW X1 X-Drive 28i and that means, it has all wheel drive, a 2 Liter 4 Cylinder Engine with that Twin Scroll Turbo Charger and that engine makes 245 horsepower. It's the same engine they put in the 328i as well and in that car, makes 30 miles per gallon, so this car should probably get an average around 32, maybe a little bit under because of the... The different aerodynamics. What's gonna make those car the most successful is the fact that the base model, that S-Drive 28i is gonna go for about $31,000, about the same price of a 128i and that's gonna be the cheapest BMW you can get. I'm Wayne Cunningham, and this is the BMW X1 at the 2012 New York International Auto Show.
