The 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid3 is coming and we have a First Look Video Transcript
Now you can buy a BMW and feel environmentally responsible. 2013 Active Hybrid 3 uses BMW's 3 liters straight-6 engines which has direct injection and it couldn't spill turbo charging. That's the same engine that they use in the 235i. But then they add a 55 hp electric motor which is integrated into the transmission and lithium-ion battery pack. BMW says the whole thing should get about 37 miles per gallon. One really cool feature of this car is called the intelligent energy management. Now, this allows you to put a destination in the navigation system and the car will look at route ahead and adjust it's drive dynamics accordingly. So for example, (??) down slope ahead, the car might use up a lot of its battery energy to propel the car 'cause it knows it's gonna be able to recharge that energy on the way down the hill up ahead. BMW package the lithium-ion battery pack in this car below the trunk load floor, so there's plenty of room here with no intrusion and you can also get a clear pass through to the backseat, so plenty of load room straight through. The BMW Active Hybrid 3 goes on sale this fall. I'm Wayne Cunningham reporting from Detroit.
